BTS Delivered Inspiring Speech and Performance at United Nations General Assembly 2021

On September 20, BTS once again stood upon the United Nations podium to deliver their inspiring speech as Special Presidential Envoy and Youth Representative. The septet group talked about various topics, from COVID-19, climate change, and even vaccination.

Unlike their previous speeches, this time, all BTS members chose to speak in front of the world leaders using their native language, Korean. And that is why the United Nations broadcasted the video using the LIVE voices of the English interpreters.

In addition to the speech, BTS also delivered a performance of their “Permission to Dance” hit song at the United Nations building.

Therefore, we will discuss 10 extraordinary things to remember about BTS Speech and the “Permission to Dance” Performance at UNGA 2021.

10 Things to Remember About BTS Speech and “Permission to Dance” Performance at UNGA 2021

1.    BTS: The THIRD Artist Who Performs at the United Nations after Beyoncé and Shakira

First, one of the most memorable parts of their UNGA 2021 appearance is their “Permission to Dance” performance in the United Nations. This performance marks BTS as the THIRD artist after Beyoncé and Shakira to showcase their work in such a prestigious place.

3.    BTS: Once in a Lifetime Artist

Just like the Bee Gees and The Rolling Stones in the 60s, or Michael Jackson in the 70s-80s, BTS is the greatest artist of this era, and it happens just once in a lifetime.

4.    Join Hands and Changing the World with the World Leaders

Next, as one the most influencing existence to the youth today, BTS has joined hands with the world leaders to change the world and make it better. Just like what J-Hope did with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J Mohammed.

“I hope we just don’t consider the future as grim darkness. We have people concerned for the world and searching for answers. There are still many pages left in the story about us and I feel like we shouldn’t talk like the ending has already been written” @BTS_twt pic.twitter.com/A3sa5hcJBY

5.    BTS Representing Voices of the Youth with the YOUTH Project Presentation

Previously, BTS had launched the YOUTH Project to gather the voices of the youth in today’s era. The boys then delivered this project as part of their speech at the UNGA 2021.

“In these pictures, you can see there are kids that are trying to learn new things… They are not lost, they are finding new courage and taking on new challenges” @BTS_twt pic.twitter.com/WtE8W2vkhK

6.    The Speech of BTS Kim Taehyung (V) Becomes a Highlight

While all members of BTS delivered a magnificent and inspiring speech at UNGA 2021, Kim Taehyung “V”, became a highlight. Therefore, United Nations particularly posted a part of BTS “V” Kim Taehyung’s speech at the UNGA 2021 on their Twitter account.

7.    BTS Jimin Showed that It’s Human to Stop and Take a Deep Breath

Furthermore, one of the most memorable moments of BTS speech at UNGA 2021 was when BTS Jimin stopped for a moment and took a deep breath. This moment became an inspiration for many fans, showing that stopping and taking a deep breath is always human and acceptable.

8.    When UN Leaders Publicly Showed Their Appreciation to BTS

Moreover, BTS appearance at UNGA 2021 received public appreciations from United Nations’ leaders: Secretary-General António Guterres and Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J Mohammed.

The #GlobalGoals are the world’s promise to create a better future for all.

My thanks to @moonriver365 and @bts_twt for joining our global movement to deliver that promise.

We can move forward with hope, conviction and each other.https://t.co/3fylFYUksH pic.twitter.com/m5kLCpRioF

9.    BTS V Showcased His Social Butterfly Skill and Made a New Friend

There’s nothing that can stop BTS V from showing off his social butterfly skills! On BTS “Permission to Dance” performance at UNGA 2021, BTS V suddenly reacted and partnered with one of the dancers.

This is so cute, kim taehyung dancing together with the dancer. He’s truly the butterfly social, kind and humble. He’s having fun and enjoying it with everyone.

10. “Welcome the New World” by BTS

At last, as one of the global leaders of the youth, BTS once again inspired fans and many people around the world with their message: “Welcome the new world!”

We thought the world stopped but it continues to move forward, I believe that every choice that we make is the beginning of change, not the end. I hope that in this… new world we can say to each other: “Welcome”.@BTS_twt pic.twitter.com/zQ68lCCGZC

— UN News (@UN_News_Centre) September 20, 2021

Finally, from singers and artists to diplomats and global leaders of the youth, there is no limit to what BTS can do. Just like what BTS Suga had once stated, the septet ensemble has now delivered.
