2024 MBC Drama Awards Nominees for Best Couple and How to Vote
On December 18, MBC announced the names of five lead couples from this year’s MBC dramas for the Best Couple category of the upcoming 2024 MBC Drama Awards. They are:
- Honey Lee and Lee Jong Won (“Knight Flower”)
- Lee Je Hoon and Lee Dong Hwi (“Chief Inspector 1958”)
- Kim Hee Sun and Lee Hye Young (“Bitter Sweet Hell”)
- Han Suk Kyu and Chae Won Bin (“Doubt”)
- Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin (“When the Phone Rings”)
MBC Best Couple 2024 Nominees
Lee Ha Nee and Lee Jong Won (“Knight Flower”)
Honey Lee and Lee Jong Won shine in their roles as Cho Yeo Hwa and Park Su Ho in “Knight Flower,” also known as “Flowers Blooming at Night.” Set in the Joseon Dynasty, the story revolves around the encounter between Cho Yeo Hwa and Park Su Ho. Cho Yeo Hwa is a widow and a daughter-in-law of a noble family. Meanwhile, Park Su Ho is a handsome capital guard officer who discovers that Yeo Hwa is not an ordinary widow.
Although the actress is 10 years older than her co-star, their chemistry is remarkable. For her portrayal of Cho Yeo Hwa in the drama, Honey Lee won the Grand Prize at the 2024 Korea Drama Festival and Best Actress at the 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards.
Lee Je Hoon and Lee Dong Hwi (“Chief Inspector 1958”)
Lee Je Hoon and Lee Dong Hwi first collaborated in the MBC historical action-comedy-drama “Chief Inspector 1958.” The chemistry between the two actors is remarkably natural. Playing a detective d o, Park Young Han (Lee Je Hoon) is an easy-going and dedicated detective, while Kim Sang Soon (Lee Dong Hwi) is tough but softhearted. Together, they work to solve criminal cases set in 1958.
Kim Hee Sun and Lee Hye Young (“Bitter Sweet Hell”)
Kim Hee Sun and Lee Hye Young have delivered incredible performances in the series “Bitter Sweet Hell.” Thriller and mystery drama tells the story of how a daughter-in-law and mother-in-law who have a terrible relationship must work together to save their family from a psychopath who wants to destroy their family ties.
Han Suk Kyu and Chae Won Bin (“Doubt”)
In the drama “Doubt,” Han Suk Kyu and Chae Won Bin play Jang Tae Su and Jang Ha Bin. Jang Tae Su is Korea’s first prominent profiler. Despite his successful career, his family is in disarray after a tragic incident in the past. He has a complicated relationship with his daughter, Jang Ha Bin. Their father-daughter bond becomes even more complicated when a case involves his daughter. This psychological thriller drama delves into the vulnerability of trust and the agony of a relationship that has been disregarded.
Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin (“When the Phone Rings”)
Baek Sa Eon, the youngest presidential spokesman in Korea and the son of a distinguished family, married Hong Hee Joo, a mute sign language interpreter, three years ago. The couple’s relationship was initially cold; however, a kidnapping incident prompted them to reconsider their relationship, and their feelings for each other grew.
Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin play Baek Sa Eon and Hong Hee Joo exceptionally well in MBC’s ongoing drama “When the Phone Rings.” Their characters complement each other, allowing the audience to feel their charming chemistry.
With an engaging story starting with an arranged marriage, an intriguing past, and excellent characterization, MBC’s romance mystery drama, also available on Netflix, has achieved global popularity.
