Date and Venue

The upcoming Seoul Music Awards will take place at KSPO Dome, Seoul, on Thursday, January 19, 2023. The annual show is organized by Sports Seoul and will be live broadcast on U+IDOL.

A long list of Korean singers, from soloists to groups, who have released their music and albums from January to December 2022 (based on Hanteo Chart data) are nominated in various categories for the 32nd Seoul Music Awards.

The awards categories included: the Grand Award (Daesang), Best Song Award, Best Album Award, World Best Artist Award, Main Award (Bonsang), Rookie of the Year, Hallyu Special Award, Best Performance Award, Ballad Award, R&B/Hip Hop Award, OST Award, Band Award, Special Judge Award, Popularity Award, Discovery of the Year Award, and Trot Award.

Professional judges, the SMA committee, and mobile voting determine the award winners. Currently, some categories are open for the fans to vote for their favorite artists. Meanwhile, the other categories that are not included in mobile voting have yet to be announced.

How to Vote

To participate in voting, you must have the Fancast app, the official voting partner for the Seoul Music Awards, that you can download from Apple Store or Google Play.

The voting will be open in two periods, with 20 days for each period. And each phase will contribute 50% to the final voting score for each nominee.

1st voting

Tuesday, December 6, 2022 (12:00 KST) ~ Sunday, December 25, 2022 (23:59 KST).

Intermission: Monday, December 26, 2022.

2nd voting

Tuesday, December 27, 2022 (12:00 KST) ~ Sunday, January 15, 2023 (23:59 KST).

The final result is obtained after the first voting (50%) and second voting (50%) are added. And the final result will be announced on Monday, January 16, 2023.

The available categories for mobile voting are the Main Award (Bonsang), Ballad Award, Hallyu Special Award, OST Award, Popularity Award, Rookie of the Year, R&B/Hip Hop Award, and Trot Award.

The Main Award and Rookie of the Year nominees are automatically nominated for the Popularity and Hallyu Special Awards. In addition, you can vote up to 10 times per day for each category in the app.

The Winner Selection Process

The winners will be determined by the following calculations:

Main Award, Rookie Award: Professional judges and SMA committee evaluation (40%) + album/song sales (30%) + global votes (30%).
Popularity Award (Korea only): mobile voting 100% votes.
K-Wave Special Award (Foreign only): mobile voting 100% votes.
Other awards: Professional judges and SMA committee (40% ) + album/song sales (30%) + global votes (30%)
