On April 26, various Korean media reported that U-KISS Lee Jun Young would soon be starring in new fantasy drama, “100 Won Butler”, also known as “Ildangbaek Butler”. He will be replacing Highlight’s Yoo Doo Joon, who previously dropped the project, and star alongside one of the best idol actresses with a successful career, Girl’s Day Lee Hyeri.
What is the Drama About?
MBC’s new drama, “100 Won Butler,” is a fantasy story revolving around a strange funeral company called “Ildangbaek”. The funeral company consists of two persons only: Director Baek Dong Joo and her one and only employee, Butler Kim. Together, they run the errand-based funeral company at the cost of only 100 won, with one person doing the errand that usually needs 100 people.
Girl’s Day Lee Hyeri as The Funeral Director who Possess Supernatural Power
As the main character of the new drama, Girl’s Day Lee Hyeri will be playing the role of Baek Dong Joo, the funeral director possessing supernatural power.
Born with a bright and refreshing personality, Baek Dong Joo seems like she’s just your ordinary sweetheart main character with a meek characteristic. However, behind all that delicate spring-like figure lies a strong and persistent, tough-nut-like character.
Spending her free time playing table tennis since she was only 8 years old, Baek Dong Joo’s life completely changed when she took up the role as the director of the funeral company. One day, she suddenly learned that she actually possessed a supernatural ability of communicating with the dead. The moment her hands touched the deceased’s face, a tingling signal and flashes of light appeared, and the deceased began regaining their vitality for a moment only to communicate with her.
With such an extraordinary ability, Baek Dong Joo runs her company and faithfully grants the last wishes of the dead, together with her only employee, Butler Kim.

Replacing Highlight’s Yoon Doo Joon, if Lee Jun Young decides to accept the offer, he will be playing the role of Butler Kim, the only and best employee of Ildangbaek and Baek Dong Joo’s loyal assistant.
The first time Butler Kim met Baek Dong Joo was because of a request from the funeral’s “customer”. At first, he thought of Baek Dong Joo as some weird woman. But then, his life became entangled with Baek Dong Joo after three meetings when he finally learned about Baek Dong Joo’s biggest secret.
Suffice to say that Lee Jung Young is the perfect actor to play Butler Kim because the character represents all the duality traits that make Lee Jun Young such an outstanding actor. On the outside, Butler Kim is a nice gentleman with a kind gaze and warm smile. He always manages to win their customer’s trust easily with his friendly nature. Sometimes, people even think of him as a pushover because he’s just laughing all the time.
However, inside that simple and honest nature is a strong and intense tiger-like individual with a highly intelligent and brilliant mind. Butler Kim is fierce and always carries his weight in crucial matters. And together with Baek Dong Joo, he builds a “win-win” romance situation that will surely bring us massive excitement.
Why did Yoon Doo Joon Refuse to Star in “100 Won Butler” New Drama?
Previously, Highlight’s Yoon Doo Joon was the one who should be starring as Butler Kim. However, after several weeks of the casting process, he decided to drop the project.
Now, if “100 Won Butler” is such a promising new drama, why did Highlight’s Yoon Doo Joon quit the project? Does it mean that the drama is actually not as attractive as it sounds?
The answer is no. Unfortunately, Highlight’s Yoon Doo Joon declined the offer to play Butler Kim in “100 Won Butler” because of a scheduling conflict following the new drama’s broadcast date adjustment. After all, Yoon Doo Joon is currently working on another project as well, “There Is No Goo Pil Soo” (literal translation).
