Alternative K-pop collective Balming Tiger and globally acclaimed Korean-American producer, singer, and DJ Yaeji have joined creative forces to release their highly anticipated collaborative double single “wo ai ni / break it even.” Born from mutual admiration and cross-continental artistry, the project delivers a warm, autumn-inspired message of love and human connection that transcends language and borders.
Balming Tiger and Yaeji: A Collaboration Rooted in Mutual Respect and Authentic Connection

The seeds of this collaboration were planted years ago. Both Balming Tiger and Yaeji has been quietly supported each other’s work from afar. Luckily, their creative paths began to converge through mutual friend and collaborator Oh Hyuk of HYUKOH. And, it ultimately led to a full-fledged partnership in 2024.
Unlike many modern musical collaborations that rely heavily on digital file exchanges, the artists were determined to work in person, shuttling between Seoul and New York to nurture genuine connection and shared inspiration. They prioritized long conversations, everyday experiences, and the unfiltered joy of collaboration over efficiency.
From Seoul Streets to Brooklyn Skies: A Year of Shared Creativity

Throughout their year-long creative journey, Yaeji and Balming Tiger immersed themselves in one another’s worlds. Together, they explored Nakwon Arcade, browsed retro audio shops, and shared kimbap and noodles over laughter and long talks. Balming Tiger even found inspiration while staying at Yaeji’s home studio—watching the spring rain fall over her Brooklyn terrace.
These intimate experiences informed not only the sound of their songs but also their emotional depth. Both artists discovered a shared desire to communicate love and understanding through music, using sincerity as the core of their creative bond.
“wo ai ni”: Love Without Boundaries
The first track, “wo ai ni”, embodies pure, unfiltered love. A sentiment unconfined by geography or language. The title, meaning “I love you” in Mandarin, symbolizes a message that speaks universally. Throughout the song, Balming Tiger and Yaeji weave the phrase “I love you” in multiple languages, creating a heartfelt sonic collage that mirrors the warmth and freshness of autumn.
The accompanying music video, directed by Balming Tiger member Jan’ Qui, adds an emotional layer by featuring fan-submitted footage—a first in the group’s history. The video’s open call for participation generated excitement worldwide. Its release is expected to deliver the same cozy, uplifting energy as the song itself.
“break it even”: Finding Harmony Through Human Connection
Complementing the tenderness of “wo ai ni” is the second track, “break it even”. It explores the importance of balance, empathy, and understanding in human relationships. Additionally, its soundscape, steeped in the gray skies and industrial rain-soaked atmosphere of Brooklyn, carries a reflective, nostalgic tone that mirrors the introspection of fall.
Through both single, Yaeji and Balming Tiger remind listeners that true connection—whether through love, friendship, or music—requires vulnerability and patience.
Global Release and Anticipation
The double single “wo ai ni / break it even” was released across all major streaming platforms on Thursday, October 16, alongside the premiere of the “wo ai ni” music video on Balming Tiger’s official YouTube channel.
With this collaboration, Yaeji and Balming Tiger reaffirm their positions as global trailblazers—artists who continue to redefine the boundaries of Korean and alternative music, one heartfelt message at a time.
