1. “Flower of Evil” (“악의 꽃”) – 2020

  • Director: Kim Chul-gyu, Yoon Jong-ho
  • Screenplay: Yoo Jung-hee
  • Episodes: 16
  • Cast: Lee Joon-gi, Moon Chae-won, Jang Hee-jin, Seo Hyeon-woo

Synopsis

Do Hyun-soo (Lee Joon-gi) has been living under the false identity of Baek Hee-sung and showcases himself as a dedicated family man. For Baek Hee-sung’s wife, Cha Ji-won (Moon Chae-won), a homicide detective, he is a devoted husband and a loving father to their young daughter, Soo-yeon (Park So-jung).

However, when Ji-won begins investigating a series of murders, she shockingly discovers that the case is linked to her husband. As her suspicions grow, she gradually uncovers the dark secrets about his true identity that ties to a notorious serial killer, making their perfect marriage starts to crumble.

The thrilling series is not your typical revenge drama. The show not only explores family bonds, trauma, and redemption but also combines a heartbreaking romance with edge-of-your-seat suspense.

Further, Lee Joon-gi’s outstanding performance is next level! He plays two characters with different natures, Baek Hee-sung and Do Hyun-soo—a devoted family man and a dangerous figure—so well that will make you admire the actor even more.

2. “My Name” (“마이 네임”) – 2021

  • Director: Kim Jin-min
  • Screenplay: Kim Ba-da
  • Episodes: 8
  • Cast: Han So Hee, Park Hee Soon, Ahn Bo Hyun

Synopsis

After Yoon Ji-woo (Han So-hee) sees her father murdered before her eyes, she’s not just mad; she’s got burning rage burning inside her.

Revenge becomes his ultimate mission. Then, there’s Choi Moo-jin (Park Hee-soon), the big boss of the drug crime world, who offers help and recruits her. She takes the chance and drills herself to fight like an absolute beast.

Ji-woo joins the police and goes deep undercover, playing both sides, all while Moo-jin’s pulling the strings. She partners with Jeon Pil-do (Ahn Bo-hyun), a narcotics detective. Although they’re like oil and water, somehow, they develop feelings for each other.

As she digs deeper for the truth, a betrayal hits her hard, making her world fall apart. What’s left is just revenge—raw, bloody, and personal.

The action-packed thriller featuring a relentless quest for revenge gets an 18+ rating for its intense violence, profanity, and sexual content.

3. “Vincenzo” (“빈센조”) – 2021

  • Director: Kim Hee Won
  • Screenplay: Park Jae Bum
  • Episodes: 20
  • Cast: Song Joong-ki, Jeon Yeo-been, Ok Taec-yeon

Synopsis

Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong-ki) is a Korean-Italian mafia consigliere who flees to Seoul after a gang war in Italy. In Korea, he meets sharp-tongued lawyer Hong Cha-young (Jeon Yeo-been), whose father was killed by Jang Han-seok (Kwak Dong-yeon), the chairman of Babel Group.

Vincenzo and Cha-young join forces to keep a stash of gold buried under their shady company’s buildings. For this, they have to face the evil Babel Group CEO and his minions.

Korean drama “Vincenzo” isn’t an average legal K-drama, though. It mixes dark comedy, legal chaos, and revenge into an intriguing narrative. They achieved a global hit in 2021 and reached the fourth position on Forbes’s top list.

4. “The Glory” (“더글로리 파트”) – 2022-2023

  • Director: Ahn Gil Ho
  • Screenplay: Kim Eun Sook
  • Episodes: 16 (Part 1 & 2)
  • Cast: Song Hye Kyo, Lee Do Hyun, Lim Ji Yeon, Yeom Hye Ran, Park Sung Hoon, Jung Sung Il

Synopsis

Moon Dong-eun (Song Hye-kyo) is a woman scarred since childhood by bullying—both at home and at school. Her pain stays, keeping her in a never-ending nightmare.

With burning rage within, she spends years planning a wild revenge plan. This meticulous revenge plot is both genius and a little terrifying.

It’s not just about the bullies, either. She aims at the bullies’ careers, families, and all their secrets. To do this, she gets help from people who care about her, including her loyal ally, Joo Yeo-jeong (Lee Do-hyun).

Exploring trauma, classism, and the price of revenge, the gripping psychological drama, “The Glory,” delivers scenes that are tense, raw, and emotionally charged, all the psychological intensity you’d expect.

Notably, Song Hye-kyo’s acting prowess as Dong-eun makes the character heartbreakingly real.

5. “Mercy for None” (“광장”) – 2025

  • Director: Choi Seung-eun
  • Screenplay: Oh Se-Hyeong (webcomic), Kim Kyun-Tae (webcomic), Yoo Ki-Sung
  • Episodes: 7
  • Cast: So Ji Sub, Huh Joon Ho, Ahn Kil Kang, Lee Bum Soo, Gong Myung, Choo young Woo, Jo Han Chul

Synopsis

Based on the popular webtoon “The Plaza Wars,” the live-action adaptation “Mercy for None” is a brutal noir crime thriller. It follows the revenge journey of a former gangster, Nam Gi-jun (So Ji-sub), who returns to Seoul’s underworld after he finds out that someone has killed his younger brother Gi-seok (Lee Jun-hyuk).

Its twisty plot reveals power struggles in organized crime that involve two major organizations, the Juwoon Group and the Bongsan Group, a web of betrayal, corrupt police, and a prosecutor.

The story explores loyalty, revenge, and continuous violence, culminating in a bloody showdown. Due to its graphic content and intense, action-packed narrative featuring fight scenes, this series is rated 18+.

Furthermore, this series marks So Ji-sub’s return to the action scene with a compelling performance as a tormented antihero.
