BTS Tops Oricon Album Sales Chart and Releases New Japanese Single “Stay Gold”

On June 19, BTS has successfully sold more than 429,000 copies of the MOTS: 7 album in Japan and topped Oricon Album Sales Chart. In the same time, the Bangtan Boys is releasing their lead single Stay Gold from the fourth Japanese album Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~

Physical album in the midyear chart 2020: MOTS:7 was #1 with 429009 copies sold, it’s the first album by male artists in 3 years to be #1 in this chart since SMAP and the first for a foreign artist to top this chart since Thriller by Micheal Jackson

In the US, Map of the Soul: 7 sold 500,000 copies and debuted at #1 on Billboard 200. Meanwhile, their track ON was on the Top 5 of Billboard Hot 100. And BTS is ready to top another chart!

Thirty-six years ago, Michael Jackson topped Oricon Album Sales Chart with his “Thriller.” And in 2020, BTS becomes the first foreign artist since Michael Jackson to top the Japanese music chart with their Map of the Soul: 7.

BTS Fourth Japanese Album

Meanwhile, BTS is also releasing their fourth Japanese album Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~, with two new singles: Stay Gold and Your Eyes Tell. The album is scheduled to be available on July 15.

The expected date album release:

• Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan: July 15
• Australia, New Zealand: July 17
• Other Markets: August 7

Since June 13, BTS Japan Official Twitter has dropped several teaser posters of the lead single, Stay Gold.

The soothing, uplifting song is now available on Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube to enjoy. Jungkook opens the song with his soft voice. Like the other gems of BTS, the new released song lyric is very empowering and encouraging.
