EXO Sehun x Whitelab Fan Meeting Event in Jakarta Cut Short Due to Overcrowded Visitors
EXO lead dancer and maknae Sehun recently held a fan meeting event in Jakarta – Indonesia, in collaboration with local skincare brand, Whitelab. Unfortunately, despite having a smooth and unproblematic event, EXO Sehun x Whitelab fan meeting had to be cut short due to overcrowded visitors.
Local media reported that EXO Sehun held a free fan meeting event at the Central Park Mall, West Jakarta – Indonesia, on November 6. Due to his massive popularity, huge number of fans flocked the place, that it resulted in overcrowding the mall.
Therefore, even when the event went smoothly without a hitch, EXO Sehun x Whitelab fan meeting had to cut short. According to the representative of Central Park Mall, they had to do it for the sake of the visitors’ safety and well-being.

Approximately 19,000 People Attended EXO Sehun x Whitelab Fan Meeting Event – Central Park Mall was Overcrowded
The popularity and reputation of EXO Sehun in Indonesia were so impressive that approximately 19,000 people attended the Jakarta fan meeting event with Whitelab. It was almost similar to the approximate number of fans attending an official fan meeting or concert!
These massive fans flocked the mall not only from the ground to the top floors of the mall, but also filled the entrance/exit alleys. As a result, it exceeded the official capacity of the building and led to uneasiness for the remaining visitors.
Therefore, EXO Sehun only made a short 7-minute appearance during the event to greet his fans. Whitelab then continued and proceeded to the remaining product launching schedule.

Everything Went Under Control
Due to the previous crowd crush issue at NCT 127 concert, many people assumed that the same thing had happened to Sehun’s event.
Fortunately, Indonesian police clarified that there was no issue at all during EXO Sehun x Whitelab fan meeting at Central Park, Jakarta. The event went smoothly without a hitch. It was only cut short to maintain the safety and comfort of both the attendees and the remaining visitors of the mall.

West Jakarta’s public relation police commissioner, Taufik Ikhsan, stated that there was no means from the police to stop the event by force. After all, both the police and the venue’s security had anticipated the huge response, and everything went under control.
The visitors were simply crowding the mall even after the event concluded. Therefore, the police decided to ask the attendees and crowds to dissolve after the event finished.
“We did not force stop the event. On the contrary, it went smoothly according to order and plan and concluded at 2.45 PM (local time).
Attendees were still flocking the scene after the event, so we asked those who had completed their goals to dissolve and move.”

Finally, according to the local media report, although fans had filled the place since the morning of the event, everything went in order. EXO Sehun appeared at 2.02 local time and greeted fans. But, unfortunately, both Sehun’s and his translator’s voices were barely clear due to the massive crowd at the venue.

On the other hand, fans of EXO Sehun felt huge disappointment for how the Whitelab fan meeting event only occurred in 7 minutes. Fans criticized the organizer’s lack of research and preparation for conducting the fan meeting event of EXO Sehun at such a small and narrow venue, knowing that Sehun has a massive fan base in Indonesia.
Not only that, EXO Sehun fans who attended and participated in the Whitelab fan meeting were not from Indonesia only. Some fans flew from their home country in a huge effort to meet and greet EXO Sehun in person. Unfortunately, however, everything went in vain.
A fan statement mentioned that the event’s winners were supposed to have a hi-bye moment with EXO Sehun. However, the car simply passed them without even e glimpse of the idol. And despite Sehun himself being the one insisting on greeting his fans in the first place, Whitelab said that EXO Sehun didn’t roll down his window car because he had removed his makeup.

And most importantly, some fans pointed out that merchandises, flower bouquets, and souvenirs that fans had sent to EXO Sehun never reached the idol at all. What’s worse, fans noticed that these flower bouquets and souvenirs were instead used for documentation of the event, even though they never reached the idol.
On top of everything, some irresponsible individuals even used the flower bouquet to take photos of themselves.

Whitelab Apologized in Official Statement
Finally, after all the complaints and criticism, Whitelab posted an official statement on their Twitter account.
The Indonesian skincare brand apologized and thanked the fans for their huge enthusiasm. However, they claimed to have been unable to handle all the situation perfectly due to the massive crowd at the scene. Therefore, Whitelab had to cut short EXO Sehun Jakarta fan meeting event for the sake of everyone’s safety. They believed the situation was not conducive.

“Hello, Everyone!
Thank you for being so enthusiastic in welcoming our #scientistganteng (handsome scientist), Oh Sehun, today.
As the event organizer, Whitelab had done our best to anticipate the crowded situation at the venue with the huge enthusiasm from the attendees, resulting in more people filling the venue inside and outside.
Therefore, because the situation was no longer conducive, the officials requested we shorten the event duration. It was all for the sake of everyone’s safety and security.
Through this statement, we would like to apologize to all the fans who had attended the event. We would also like to appreciate those who had followed the event procedure.
We apologize that the event did not go entirely as planned. Nevertheless, this event will be a precious lesson for us.
