SBS “Unanswered Questions” Apologizes for False Report on FIFTY FIFTY Members and Lawsuit

Responding to all the detailed reports and evidence Dispatch had revealed about the lies and manipulations from FIFTY FIFTY members about the lawsuit, SBS “Unanswered Questions” finally apologized for presenting a biased and inaccurate report.

On August 24, OSEN reported that SBS “Unanswered Questions” had deeply apologized regarding their broadcast about FIFTY FIFTY members and their lawsuit.

In the apology statement, SBS “Unanswered Questions” stated they had wanted to remain neutral about the case. However, their attempt not to side with any parties resulted in false reports and biased opinions. And this has severely damaged the show’s long history and reputation. That is why SBS “Unanswered Questions” expressed their regret and promised to carry out more investigation in a follow-up episode.

SBS “Unanswered Questions” Official Apology for Inaccuracy & Biased Episode Following Dispatch Report

“We created the episode titled “Unanswered Questions: Billboard and Girl Group,” airing on August 19, to explore what Kpop requires to move on, particularly in light of the FIFTY FIFTY case.

Firstly, contrary to our production team’s intentions, this episode caused distress to many Kpop professionals and its vast number of fans. We sincerely apologize for this oversight. We have genuinely considered the feedback and concerns expressed by the Korea Management Union and the Korean Celebrity Production Union.

It’s important to clarify that our show did not intend to favor any particular side or interest. Regarding the contentious points raised, we commit to conducting further research and will address the areas that fell short in an upcoming episode.”

Still, the damage has been done.

Even after the official apology, South Korean netizens seem to have lost their trust in the show.

All along, SBS “Unanswered Questions” has been famous for objective and thorough reports. However, when it comes to the case and lawsuit of FIFTY FIFTY members, they produced a biased episode containing inaccuracies. So, even after the official apology and promise to revise their report, South Korean netizens continue to criticize the show.

And that is especially when more rumors emerged that FIFTY FIFTY members would change its name and move on with a new remake of “Cupid”.

MORE FIFTY FIFTY Lawsuit Update: Name Change and “Cupid” Remake?

Previously, we have discussed the possibility of FIFTY FIFTY to disband with no future. That is especially after ATTRAKT has issued a trademark for the name ‘FIFTY FIFTY’. But apparently, FIFTY FIFTY members and Ahn Sung Il have allegedly been preparing for a fresh start.

On August 24, YouTuber Jaylin claimed to have received a tip that FIFTY FIFTY members are planning to change the group’s name to ‘Fifi’. Not only that, the YouTuber also reported that FIFTY FIFTY members were planning to remake “Cupid” as a new song under the name of The Givers CEO Ahn Sung Il.

According to the channel, the reported tip on FIFTY FIFTY members plan to change their name and remake “Cupid” was based on The Givers’ meeting minutes. The note mentioned plans on releasing new social media and mastering a new song.

Indeed, FIFTY FIFTY members have previously released their letter under a new Instagram handle @fifi_fifi1118. That is why suspicions emerged that FIFTY FIFTY would soon change the name to ‘Fifi’, knowing that the original name now belonged to ATTRAKT. Moreover, since Ahn Sung Il owns the copyright for FIFTY FIFTY “Cupid” song, the group will be able to remake the song again using the new name.

FIFTY FIFTY Name Change: No Intention to Disband

Still, there has been no official report regarding FIFTY FIFTY members plans to change name and re-release “Cupid” as of today.

However, one thing is for sure: FIFTY FIFTY has no intention to disband the group. In the previous letter, FIFTY FIFTY members expressed their intention to continue promoting and making music.

We will do our best to come back in good shape and return our thankfulness to all of you who have been following us.”
