FIFTY FIFTY Billboard Spotify records CUPID

Rookie Kpop girl group FIFTY FIFTY just made a pleasant surprise with their debut on November 2022. However, they didn’t receive enough attention until the group made their comeback three months later, on February 24, 2023, to be exact. Since then, FIFTY FIFTY has been rising on the charts with their track, “Cupid.” The group become the fastest Kpop girl group ever to chart on Billboard’s Hot 100, and breaking BLACKPINK’s records even on Spotify.

Cupid is a retro single combined with proper quantity and quality of disco beats and funky baselines. The song is relatively light and familiar for Kpop listeners. However, the group benefits from the familiarity and adds it with their subtle cutesy vocals. The song is relentlessly pleasant, so no wonder it quickly rises to the top of the charts.

FIFTY FIFTY Breaks BLACKPINK’s Records on Billboard Charts

Upon its release, “Cupid” made FIFTY FIFTY the first Kpop girl group to enter the US Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart. After steadily climbing the chart, it became the first non-collab Kpop girl group song to break the top 20 of the Hot 100. In its ninth consecutive week on the Hot 100, “Cupid” remains steady at #18. It sets a new record for the longest-charting Kpop girl group song in the chart’s history.

The previous record belonged to the collab song of BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez’s Ice Cream, which spent eight weeks on the chart in 2020.

Cupid is also rising in radio airplay in the United States as it climbed Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart. After debuting at #36, Cupid rose to #30 in its second consecutive week on the Pop Airplay chart. Therefore, the group officially joins other Kpop girl groups who have spent two straight weeks on the chart, including BLACKPINK (with Ice Cream and Pink Venom), LOONA (with Star), and TWICE (with The Feels).

On May 22, FIFTY FIFTY scored their first leader on the Billboard Global Excl. US chart with their viral hit Cupid climbing to #1! Notably, they become the third Kpop group to reach #1 on this chart, following BTS and BLACKPINK.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom’s Official Charts revealed that Cupid spent its eighth consecutive week on the Official UK Singles Charts at #11. It makes FIFTY FIFTY breaking another record set by BLACKPINK (with Pink Venom) for the longest-charting non-collab Kpop girl group song, which stayed for seven weeks after its release last year.

Rookie Group that Breaks Record of Monthly Listeners on Spotify

Following the original song, FIFTY FIFTY also released Cupid (Twin Ver.), which has full-English lyrics and is sung by only two members: Sio and Aran.

In addition to FIFTY FIFTY topping international charts, Twin version of Cupid has also had a strong showing on Spotify. In March, the song took the top spot on the 15 Daily Viral Songs charts. Not only that, but Cupid (Twin Ver.) also reached #7 on Spotify’s US Daily Top Songs chart with 960,000 streams and #16 on the same chart in the UK with 180,000 streams.

With the skyrocketing number of streams on Spotify, FIFTY FIFTY had surpassed 30 million monthly Spotify listeners from around the world by May 7.

Nevertheless, the group shows no signs of slowing down and keeps gaining more listeners and followers. As per this article written (May 25), FIFTY FIFTY has reached 36,087,574 monthly listeners, setting a new record for the highest number of monthly listeners of any Kpop girl group in the history of Spotify.

The previous record belonged to YG’s girl group BLACKPINK, which peaked at 34,123,272 monthly listeners on September 26, 2022.

Congratulations, FIFTY FIFTY, for your outstanding achievements. Hunnies is definitely proud of you!
