A Fire Incident during aespa’s Pre-Recording for ‘M Countdown’
A fire erupted on May 16 at a filming studio within the CJ ENM Center at Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The fire was reportedly triggered by an issue on the filming set. It cast a shadow over the pre-recordings of M Countdown.

Importantly, Mnet promptly reassured that all ‘M Countdown’ sets are nonflammable. They also promised to re-examine the maintenance status to prevent similar incidents in the future.
It was further reported that Kpop group aespa was on the stage for M Countdown pre-recording their new song “Supernova.” CJ ENM immediately evacuated the audience, and aespa members came off the stage.
Winter’s Health Concerns Lead to Activity Pause
aespa Karina, Giselle, and Ningning fortunately escaped the incident safe and sound. However, the incident affected aespa Winter’s health and felt unwell. She underwent pneumothorax surgery earlier this year.
As a result of aespa Winter’s health concerns, aespa’s schedule for their comeback stage was abruptly disrupted. Therefore, the live performance on M Countdown will be carried out with only three members.
“There was an issue with the stage set at today’s pre-recording for ‘M Countdown,’ and afterward, Winter needed rest and stability due to her condition. Therefore, only Karina, Giselle, and Ningning will attend today’s live broadcast of ‘M Countdown.’ Winter’s participation in future activities will be decided based on her recovery status.”

Additionally, aespa released their double title track “Supernova” on May 13. The group is gearing up to reveal their first full-length album, “Armageddon,” on May 27. The album features 10 songs, including two title tracks: “Supernova” and “Armageddon.”
