Positive Message Jay B wants to Convey in His New EP ‘Be Yourself

For his ‘Be Yourself’ album, Jay B intends to make something different full of positive messages. Different from his previous songs and albums, Jay B wants to talk about being oneself freely without worrying about what other people think or say.

“Rather than making love songs, I wanted to talk about freedom or friendship. There were many songs that were written about love in my previous work, so I thought I would like to talk about a slightly different topic this time around.”

go UP – Title Track

Serving as the title track of Jay B’s ‘Be Yourself’ album, ‘go UP’ carries the main message of the EP out of six songs included. The funk-pop song that combines the 90s New Jack Swing tells us to live as we want, no matter what people think or say.

“I wanted to convey the meaning of letting go of oneself’s burden and living happily rather than getting stressed out. Instead of focusing on the heaviness of the topic, I tried to approach it in a pleasant and comfortable way.”

‘Break It Down,’ featuring Sik-K, is another catchy and groovy track on the album. With a folk guitar loop yet intense and powerful chorus, Jay B and Sik-K remind us to appreciate the life we are living now. Breaking the routine once in a while won’t hurt you.

‘Fountain of Youth’ is an urban and pop genre track in Jay B’s new album. It carries a story of friendship. With the full-English lyrics, Jay B conveys a thoughtful message to his fans worldwide.

Finally, the last track of Jay B’s new album, ‘Holyday,’ is described as a gospel-based song.
