You must be wondering why some Kpop idols have weird Instagram usernames, and what’s the meaning behind those names?
Although some Kpop idols Instagram usernames sound like gibberish, there is actually a significant meaning behind those names. These six Kpop idols have the most extraordinary meaning behind their Instagram usernames.
6 Kpop Idols Instagram Usernames with Extraordinary Meaning
IU – @dlwlrma
The Korean princess, IU, created her Instagram account with a username: dlwlrma. It sounds unusual, indeed. Many people even wonder whether dlwlrma has a special meaning in Korean or even any other languages.
As a matter of fact, dlwlrma does not have any Korean meaning, at least not literally.
The real Korean name of IU is Lee Ji Eun, and “eun” means Silver. IU once mentioned that her friends used to call her “이지금은통”, meaning Lee Ji Gold Silver Bronze when she was younger. Therefore, she used the name Lee Ji Geum (Lee Ji Gold) as the basis of her Instagram username. Hence, when you type “Lee Ji Geum” in Korean Hangul using an English keyboard, the result will be dlwlrma, which is the original meaning of IU’s username.
MONSTA X Hyungwon – @coenffl
There is an even more unique meaning behind MONSTA X’s Hyungwon Instagram username: coenffl.
Hyunwon’s real name is Chae Hyung Won. When he was a child, Hyungwon had adorable chubby cheeks. Because of his chubby cheeks, he looked like a South Korean cartoon character: Dooly the Little Dinosaur. That is why Hyungwon’s nickname was also Dooly.
When you combine his family name and nickname, you will have Chae Dooly, which spells “coenffl” if you type them in Korean Hangul using an English keyboard.
GFRIEND Eunha – @rlo.ldl
Another extraordinary puzzle came from GFRIEND Eunha’s Instagram username: rlo.ldl. While the username seems complicated at first, it is pretty simple after you understand the meaning.
Eunha’s real name is Jung Eun Bi, and Eun Bi is written as “은비” in Korean Hangul. If you rotate the name and see from 90 degrees clockwise, 은 is very similar to “rlo”, and 비 itself looks like the letter “ldl”. That is why Eunha’s Instagram username is “rlo.ldl”.
SHINee Onew – @dlstmxkakwldrl
SHINee Onew’s Instagram username seems extremely complex, like it is some kind of a code or something.
As a matter of fact, Onew has one of the most complicated meaning of Instagram usernames among other Kpop idols. So, deciphering them is quite tricky, and it needs a lot of thinking.
So, if you try typing “dlstmxkakwldrl” on a Korean Hangul keyboard, you will get 인스타마징기, or “Instamajingki”.
First, “Insta” means the Instagram platform itself. Next, “majingki” is a combination of Onew’s real name, “Lee Jin Ki”, and the Korean name of the popular Japanese mecha manga series Mazinger: Majinga. Hence, Majinga + Lee Jin Ki = majingki.
Finally, if you put them together, you get “Insta” and “majingki”, resulting in “Instamajingki” on the Korean Hangul keyboard and “dlstmxkakwldrl” on English.
Weki Meki Yoojung – @dbeoddl__
And finally, the meaning behind Weki Meki Yoojung’s Instagram username is quite similar to those of IU and Hyungwon.
Yoojung’s nickname is “Yoodaengi”, and it spells 유댕이 in Korean Hangul. When you type it on an English keyboard, the result will be “dbeoddl”.
VICTON Hanse – @dxhxnxe
The meaning behind Hanse’s Instagram username is simple, actually. Hanse’s real name is Do Han Se, and if you replace every other letter with “x”, you get “dxhxnxe”.
Now, the adorable part is that Hanse’s little sister, Do Hanbi, used the same pattern for her Instagram username.
Such an exciting meaning behind these Kpop idols Instagram usernames. If you were one, what will be your unique username? Feel free to tell us in the comment section.
