9 Idols Left Their Groups Due To Kpop Idols Scandals in 2019

Things has happened during 2019, including to Korean idols. Some Kpop idols stay in their groups, while some others choose to leave for personal reasons. Not to mention, some left their groups because of Kpop idols scandals.

Kang Sunghoon leaves Sechs Kies

At the very beginning of the year, Kang Sunghoon officially left Sechs Kies and YG Entertainment. This decision was after his various scandals in 2019, like being accused by his own fan club for stealing profits that were meant to be donated for charity. He was also found trying to break-in to his former manager’s house and even harassing the former manager.

In March 2019, Seungri was officially removed from BIGBANG. He was discovered to be the director of the Burning Sun. Moreover, he was also involved in drugs and sexual assault. More investigation found out in a chat room that Seungri requested prostitutes for a foreign investor. After his retirement from entertainment industry, it was revealed that Seungri was involved in many illegal activities, like police collusion and habitual gambling.

On August 12, 2021, Korean media reported that former BIGBANG member, Seungri, had been sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Young Junhyung leaves HIGHLIGHT

One of the other Kpop idols scandals is from Us Entertainment. Young Junhyung announced through his Instagram that he was in Jung Joon Young’s chat rooms that shared illegally filmed videos and pictures. In March 2019, He also stated he would be leaving HIGHLIGHT. In April 2019, Yong Junhyung quietly enlisted in the military.

Choi Jonghoon leaves FTISLAND

Investigation revealed that Choi Jonghoon was involved in Jung Joon Young’s chat rooms. FNC Entertainment defended Choi Jonghoon and denied the issue. Further, he was found trying to cover up his drunk-driving incident, which then he admitted, but he still denied doing police collusion. However, two weeks after that, Choi Jonghoon announced that he would be leaving FTISLAND and retiring from entertainment industry. Since then, he was sentenced to five years in prison for his crimes and scandals in 2019.

Taken a drug test, it showed that Park Yoochun was positive for meth. Before, he was exposed for using drugs with his ex-fiancee, Hwang Hana. Shortly after that, C-JeS Entertainment terminated the contract with him, which also means he must leave JYJ. On April 2019, he was arrested and sentenced to two years of probation, with ten months in prison if he violates probation.

B.I leaves iKON

After an investigation found out that B.I attempted to buy marijuana and LSD, he voluntarily left iKON in June 2019. The scandal grew as media exposed the involvement of YG Entertainment, started with the connection between Han Seo Hee, B.I, and YG Entertainment.

Regarding B.I drugs purchase charges, B.I, through IOK Company, released an official statement. Although he has faced a severe issue, B.I still has massive number of fans and he successfully climbs the ladder of success as a soloist. Even more, B.I became the first Asian and Kpop artist to perform for GRAMMY Concert Series, “Global Spin.”

The scandal started in 2009 for an assault case and DUI hit-and-run incident. He hit a taxi while he was driving under the influence of alcohol, and left the scene. It continued in 2016, Kangin was involved in another DUI hit-and-run incident. Later in July 2019, he announced his departure from Super Junior through his Instagram.

Another case related to Jung Joon Young chat rooms was accused on Lee Jonghyun. SBS revealed chat logs talking about their sexual acts with different girls. Further, there was a degrading message from Lee Jonghyun towards an Afreeca TV BJ. In August 2019, FNC Entertainment announced that Lee Jonghyun would be leaving CNBLUE due to Kpop idols scandals.

Wonho leaves MONSTA X

After some events involving Jung Da Eun and Han Seo Hee, Wonho decided to leave MONSTA X in October 2019. Jung Da Eun stated that Wonho owed her money which then was claimed by Starship Entertainment as an untrue statement. Though, Jung Da Eun kept revealing things about Wonho, saying that they have lived together and he stole her belongings to sell online. Further investigation discovered that Wonho smoked marijuana with Jung Da Eun when he was a trainee.

Despite the mistakes he has made, until today, Monbebes keep asking for his return to MONSTA X. Although Wonho doesn’t make a comeback with his group, he made a successful debut as a soloist.
