Korean Dramas Received the Lowest Rating in 2022

2022 is the year when the Korean filming industry made various breakthroughs. From the beginning of this year with All of Us Are Dead, A Business Proposal, to the end with Reborn Rich, Korean drama continues to satisfy viewers with its touching storyline and outstanding acting skills of its actors.

However, despite all the glory given to some of the most legendary Korean drama, 5 titles received the lowest rating in 2022 for various reasons.

1. Sponsor – 0.5%

The first Korean drama with the lowest rating in 2022 was Sponsor starring Lee Ji Hoon, Han Chae Young, and Koo Ja Sung. This Korean drama allegedly received the lowest rating of 0.5% in 2022 due to the power trip scandal of its main lead, Lee Ji Hoon.

Last year, Lee Ji Hoon allegedly brought his friend to the filming site to threaten a staff member. Lee Ji Hoon then apologized and clarified that it was all empty accusations. In fact, it was the very staff member who had reported him who mistreated the Sponsor team. But the damage had already been done.

Following its premiere in February 2022, the production company reportedly swapped the role and demoted Lee Ji Hoon into the support role. The mixed reactions to this controversy and the viewers’ attempt to clear Lee Ji Hoon’s name were the main reasons Sponsor Korean drama received the lowest rating in 2022.

2. The One and Only (0.5%)

The second drama that received the lowest rating in 2022 was The One and Only, starring Ahn Eun Jin, Red Velvet Joy, and Kim Kyung Nam.

From the very beginning to the end, the viewership rating of The One and Only continued to decline since its first episode. Throughout the whole series, only the first 3 episodes at the beginning received ratings of over 1%, while the remaining episodes continue with no more than 0.8 to the lowest of 0.5%.

K14 media reported that the main reason for this low rating was Red Velvet Joy’s poor acting performance. Not only that, viewers believed that the drama script and storyline were terrible. That is why no matter how well the rest of the cast members performed, it could not save the drama.

Why? Because it was deemed impossible to make up for such a horrible script and Joy’s terrible acting at the same time.

3. Becoming Witch (0.7%)

Telling the story of three wonderful women with different life circumstances, nobody understands why Becoming Witch Korean drama received such a low rating of 0.7%.

Some viewers believed that even though the basic concept was terrific and started okay, the rest of the drama remained dull and completely unprepared. That is why nobody was really interested in investing themselves in this drama.

4. A Superior Day (0.8%)

Marking the comeback of Descendant of the Sun and Legal High actor Jin Goo after 3 years, A Superior Day, unfortunately, became a Korean drama with the lowest rating in 2022 of 0.8%.

While K14 drama did not mention the exact reason for such a low rating, the drama received mixed responses from viewers. Some of them pour the drama with various criticism, while others simply felt sorry for the promising cast and Jin Goo’s wonderful acting performance.

5. Love is for Suckers (0.8%)

Despite having the iconic couple: Choi Siwon and Lee Da Hee, Love is for Suckers Korean drama received the lowest rating in 2022.

Depicting the heartwarming story of a classic friends-to-lover, Love is for Suckers reportedly lacked in creativity in the delivery. That is why even though the basic concept and storyline were amazing, topped with a wonderful cast, the poor delivery caused the drama to be less appealing to the viewers.
