Mata Hari is back! EMK Musical Company announced the return of the masterpiece “Mata Hari” by releasing the fascinating character teaser video. “Mata Hari” will be musical debut of MAMAMOO Solar. The good news is that Solar will play in the musical with one of her besties, Lee Changsub.
“Mata Hari” Musical 2022 Character Teaser Video
On April 6, EMK Musical released a character teaser video for “Mata Hari” 2022. The video began with the old typewriter typing “MATA HARI.” Along with the urgent siren sound, the man continues typing several words. The red seal of “TOP SECRET” adds to the tense atmosphere of the teaser video.
The video continues to show Ok Joo Hyun and Solar as the musical’s main character.
“MATA HARI. She is back.
Here comes the enchanting dancer.”
Moreover, the choreography shown in the character teaser video seems to be the first choreography to be performed in the third season of “Mata Hari.”
The “Mata Hari” musical, which will return with its third season this May 28, is going to present a new ambiance from the narrative, music, and stage. Audience must be ready with the ever-changing stage set, newly-added music, and sensual choreography of Mata Hari with over 200 outfits.
EMK Musical has won six awards at the first Korea Musical Awards and other major awards in Korea with its original musical “Mata Hari.” The 1st “Mata Hari” performance surpassed 100,000 audiences in the first week.
“Mata Hari” is musical debut of MAMAMOO Solar
Ok Joo Hyun, who has played Mata Hari since its premiere in 2016 and 2017, will return this time.
The other star who will play Mata Hari is Kim Yong Sun or known as Solar. “Mata Hari” will become the musical debut for Solar, MAMAMOO talented vocal and leader. The expectations are high as Solar is known for her powerful singing and eye-catching performances.
EMK Musical posted the story concept photo of Solar as Mata Hari along with quote, “Watch out for my heart and it will break easily.Don’t bruise me with the word love.”
Meanwhile, Armand will be played by Kim Sung Sik, Lee Hong Gi (FT Island), Lee Changsub (BTOB), and Yoon So Ho. As known, MAMAMOO Solar and BTOB Changsub have a close friendship, which draws more attention to this year’s musical. Moomoos and Melodys can’t wait to see the chemistry of those two besties.
This year “Mata Hari” musical will also have Choi Min Cheul and Kim Paul playing Ladoux, the cold-blooded man who forces Mata Hari to be a spy for France.
“Mata Hari” Musical characters
Mata Hari is a dancer-spy who was born Margaretha Geertruida Zelle in the Netherlands. She lives an extraordinary life as an exotic dancer and double-agent spy for France and Germany.
Armand is a pilot in the military who likes aerial photography. He is assigned to watch over Mata Hari, but he falls for her. Armand is a strong, feisty, yet rebellious person.
Ladoux is a General in charge of the French military. As he is a cold-blooded man, he forcefully uses Mata Hari’s past secret to force her to become a spy for France.
Other characters in the “Mata Hari” musical are Anna and von Bissing. Anna is the dresser of Mata Hari and her closest and only friend. Meanwhile, Von Bissing is a General in the German Supreme Headquarters who is easily captivated by the charm of Mata Hari.
How to Watch “Mata Hari”
“Mata Hari” will kick off its third season at the Charlotte Theatre on May 28, 2022. The opening of the first ticket is on April 14, 2022, at 2 PM KST at Melon Tickets and Interpark Tickets.

“Mata Hari” Synopsis
The story of “Mata Hari” is based on a book written by Ivan Menchell. “Mata Hari” follows a dancer-spy Mata Hari, born Margaretha Geertruida Zelle in the Netherlands, and her dramatic life. Her life changes when she has to be a double-agent spy for both France and Germany. Moreover, her love life with a French pilot, Armand Gilot, has made her live a dramatic life.

Paris, once the glamorous city of light, is suffering amidst the chaos that is World War I. France, Great Britain, and Russia (the allies) are fighting against Germany and the Austrian-Hungarian empire (the enemy).
