SM Entertainment CO., Ltd. announced the debut of its first virtual artist. nævis makes an official debut with the single “Done.” The new track is available on all streaming services.
nævis Debuts in Reality with Single’ Done
nævis first appeared in aespa’s fictional universe as the group’s sidekick character traversing the digital and real worlds. The virtual artist is officially stepping out as a real-world artist. The debut single “Done” marks the first step of nævis toward freedom, breaking away from the environment and entities that have long suppressed her. The song’s mysterious yet suspenseful ambiance and striking synth sounds tie in with the narrative of determination to explore a new world.
The lyrics narrate a story of marching forward into her own world without looking back after closing a chapter (“Done”), allowing listeners to fully immerse themselves in nævis’ unique concept and worldview.
Released alongside the track, the MV depicts nævis arriving in a city and freely enjoying the real world. What makes the viewing experience especially immersive are diverse visuals and captivating cinematography portraying nævis traveling between the digital space and the real world.
Previously, in June, nævis made a surprise appearance at the Seoul leg of “2024 aespa LIVE TOUR – SYNK : PARALLEL LINE” with a solo performance. The subsequent release of teaser content like “Birth of nævis” and “nævis Origin Story” series covering her expansive universe has heightened the anticipation.
As a “flexible character” who can adapt to various platforms – from a hyperreal version created using VFX technology to casual 3D and toon style – nævis plans to expand her IP universe beyond music to include webtoons, games, merchandise, and brand collaborations, leveraging AI voice technology and generative AI-produced content.
SM x LG U+ Partnership
Leading up to her debut, nævis and SM recently announced an official partnership with Korean mobile network operator LG U+’ generative AI ixi-GEN to collaborate on AI content development and marking initiatives.
“LG U+’s commitment to providing customers with new AI experiences aligns with SM’s goal of delivering new K-pop experiences to fans through nævis.” He added, “The collaboration between LG U+’s generative AI ixi-GEN and SM’s virtual artist naevis is not just a business partnership but an important milestone in realizing future-oriented content and technological innovation born out of the creative synergy between the two companies.”
