On October 19, a post on the Korean online community TheQoo raised a topic on the latest Korean drama starring Oh Na Ra, “Villain’s Country.” This post highlighted several comments on X (formerly Twitter), questioning how it was possible that the Korean drama claimed to be a remake of the American series “Modern Family” while the storyline doesn’t even touch any of the US series’ factors, even the slightest.
For the record, “Modern Family” is a 10-season American sitcom depicting the hilarious and heartwarming stories of an extended family.
The sitcom takes in a mockumentary format with the perfect blend of classic humor within the characters’ daily interactions. But at the same time, every episode highlights various crucial moments and relationship values within the family.
And yet, the reported KBS remake of “Modern Family” is apparently not even close to the primary concept and storyline.
Criticisms and Backlash for Completely Different Storyline.
In its latest release last month, “Villain’s Country,” a Korean drama starring Oh Na Ra, reported a conflicting storyline. According to the report, this new alleged “Modern Family” remake will be a family-oriented comedy-drama depicting a chaotic world of Korean sisters with their husbands and children.
Also, the main character (Oh Na Ra) is portrayed as a former flight attendant with a long history of romance. But she has to hide everything because of her conservative, rigid husband.
All these descriptions did not even touch the original concept of “Modern Family.” Oh Na Ra’s character, who was supposed to be the Korean equivalent of Claire Dunphy, doesn’t even have any similarity within their backgrounds.
The only resemblance in both series is that it involves extended family and possibly father-daughter relationships.
