Lee Do Hyun to Possibly Join Song Hye Kyo in “Goblin” Writer Kim Eun Sook New Drama, “The Glory”
After previously confirmed that Song Hye Kyo and her former “Descendants of the Sun” writer Kim Eun Sook will reunite for a new drama, rumors said that Lee Do Hyun would be joining them soon.
On October 13, various Korean media reported that Lee Do Hyun would star in Song Hye Kyo new project with prominent writer Kim Eun Sook in a new drama, “The Glory”.
As one of the most prominent screenwriters, Korean drama enthusiasts have always been waiting for wonderful projects from Kim Eun Sook. And today marks the birth of another Kim Eun Sook masterpiece, following “Secret Garden”, “The Heirs”, “Descendants of the Sun”, “Goblin”, and “The King: Eternal Monarch”.
So, is this new Kim Eun Sook drama, “The Glory” really good? And what makes it become a Korean drama masterpiece? Check out the following facts, and we’ll see if you would be able to think otherwise.
Crucial Facts on Bittersweet Revenge in Kim Eun Sook New Masterpiece, “The Glory”
1. “Sweet Revenge is Best Served Cold” Concept
Kim Eun Sook has done comedy, melodrama, and her bunch of fantasy romance dramas like “Secret Garden”, “Goblin”, and “The King: Eternal Monarch”. However, today the master writer comes back with a whole different concept: bittersweet revenge.
Unlike her previous projects, Kim Eun Sook new drama, “The Glory”, will tell a story about a high schooler who had to give up her dream as an architect because she dropped out of school due to a vicious school violence incident. However, she comes back years later after the perpetrator lives their best lives with sweet revenge for her suffering.

2. Extraordinary Plot and Storyline
We can see how Kim Eun Sook wrote about destined couples like “Goblin” or “Secret Garden”. But then, she also told stories of couples who decided to be together anyway despite being in “different worlds” like “The Heirs” and “King: Eternal Monarch”. Finally, we also have couples whose relationships are so complicated and even worse than your tangled earphones: “Mr. Sunshine” and “A Gentleman’s Dignity”.
Indeed, we always expect great stories from Kim Eun Sook writer-nim, and she always delivers. However, “The Glory” projects a plot and storyline entirely different from her previous works.
That is because “The Glory” is NOT about a submissive female character who waits for her prince charming to change her fate!
“The Glory” will tell how this female high school dropout named Moon Dong Eun suffered from brutal school violence that she had to give up her dream. But then, instead of giving up on her life, Dong Eun rises again in the most unexpected way.
She waits for the violent culprit and bystanders to get married, have kids, and living their best life. Then, after the perpetrator’s kid enters elementary school, she swoops in as the kid’s homeroom teacher to start her cruel and desperate revenge.
Better yet, instead of having a prince charming as the male lead, we will have Joo Yeo Jung, a smiling character full of life, raising his sword and skills in assisting Dong Eun in her revenge. And should he decides to accept, Lee Do Hyun will be taking this male lead role.
3. Top-Rated VVIP Main Role
Secondly, Kim Eun Sook NEVER goes halfheartedly with her projects. Just take a look at how she and the production team chose her previous lead roles:
Hyunbin and Ha Ji Won (Secret Garden)
Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ha Neul (A Gentleman’s Dignity)
Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye (The Heirs)
Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo (Descendants of the Sun)
Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun (Goblin)
Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun (The King: Eternal Monarch)
They always went ALL OUT, and today, they’ve done it again.
Among other talented and prominent Korean actresses, Kim Eun Sook and the team chose Song Hye Kyo, one of the highest-paid actresses in South Korea, and that is NOT without reason.
Indeed, seeing how complicated the story, and how challenging Moon Dong Eun’s character, we truly need an actress with a whole different level of acting skills and abundant profound expressions, which only actress of Song Hye Kyo caliber has. After all, from cute and stubborn Han Ji Eun to solemn and reserved Oh Young, she has done it all magnificently.
Moreover, Lee Do Hyun has been given a chance to act alongside the prominent actress as Joo Yeo Jung. So, the question will be: will he accept the offer? Or will Lee Do Hyun pass this challenge of matching Song Hye Kyo’s acting in this Kim Eun Sook new drama?
4. 8 Episode + Possible Multiple Seasons
Furthermore, unlike her previous regular 16-episode projects, “The Glory” has reported being a short 8-episode pre-produced drama.

Indeed, a revenge plot will not be too exciting when presented in short. That is why it is possible that “The Glory” will have potential multiple seasons.
5. Stunning Lead and Cinematography from Director Ahn Gil Ho
Last but not least, one of the crucial factors that makes “The Glory” become such a masterpiece is that it has fallen in the magic hands of director Ahn Gil Ho.
As we all know, director Ahn Gil Ho has managed to capture numerous gorgeous and incredible scenes and the proper timings and emotions.
Ahn Gil Ho PD nim shots are exquisite, some example below threads. Including Sa Hyejun's action drama sequence and stardom… and Hwang Simok's secret forest solo shot https://t.co/7Uv8QoslVG— 𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙖 #Melancholia 11/3🍀💚 (@blueskypallette) October 13, 2021
Besides, his name has become even more popular after previously bringing his projects into successful dramas with high ratings, including “Rooftop Prince”, “Memories of Alhambra”, “Watcher”, “Record of Youth”, and his latest project, “Happiness”.
So, based on the abovementioned facts, do you think that Kim Eun Sook new drama, “The Glory”, will be a promising masterpiece, especially when it features Song Hye Kyo and Lee Do Hyun? After all, this is the second time Song Hye Kyo was cast in Kim Eun Sook’s drama after “Descendant of the Sun”.
