The upcoming youth drama series, “ONE: High School Heroes” (“ONE 하이스쿨 히어로즈”), is based on Lee Eun Jae’s legendary webtoon, “ONE,” released from 2019 to 2020 on Kakao Webtoon. The webtoon series reached 65 million views and won the 2020 Today’s Woori Manhwa Award for its popularity. It tells about a model student who experiences changes after getting caught up in domestic violence and school violence.
Director Lee Sung Tae, known for writing and directing two popular action crime movies, “Derailed” (2016) and “Quantum Physics” (2019), helmed the series. This series marks his directorial debut in the series project.

Plot
“ONE: High School Heroes” follows the story of a model student who secretly becomes a vigilante figure, Kim Ui Gyeom. As a model student, he always tries to avoid violence at school. However, he cannot escape it at home. He has been suffering from his father’s oppression at home, who wants him to be a doctor.
One day, Ui Gyeom’s anger explodes after facing intense bullying, and he knocks down the bullies one by one. Kang Yoon Gi, Ui Gyeom’s classmate, witnesses the event and notices his fighting talent. With his real intention concealed, Yoon Gi approaches Ui Gyeom to form a masked group, “High School Heroes.” This leads Ui Gyeom to the fighting world and sets him to overturn the school’s violent social order.

Kim Ui Gyeom is known as a gentle person and the top student at school. Behind his calm demeanor, he has a natural talent for fighting. He has been living under the shadow of his beloved brother. His brother’s cassette player (Walkman) has become his heirloom and sanctuary to drown out his anger and stress due to his father’s oppression.
This upcoming drama marks Lee Jung Ha’s real action drama following his appearance in “Moving.” In addition, this upcoming drama will be his first project this year after the legal drama “The Auditors” and film “Victory” in 2024.
Kim Do Wan as Kang Yoon Gi
Kang Yoon Gi is Kim Ui Gyeom’s classmate with quick judgment and good fighting skills. However, he has hidden motives to use Ui Gyeom’s fighting talent.
Like Lee Jung Ha, this upcoming school action series marks his first action drama. Kim Do Wan has starred in various dramas; some of his popular dramas are “Start-Up,” “My Roommate Ia a Gumiho,” and “Wedding Impossible.”
