On November 26, an exclusive report by StarNews revealed that actress Park Bo Young is set to star in her first crime thriller Korean drama, “Goldland.”

“Goldland” Plot

The new Korean drama revolves around South Korea’s first domestic casino named “Goldland.” This casino aimed to revitalize the local economy after the coal industry’s decline. As a result, the casino provides jobs to the people and boosts business development in the area.

Park Bo Young’s Role in “Goldland”

In the upcoming show, Park Bo Young plays the character of Kim Hee Joo. Hee Joo grew up in a family with poor economic conditions. This situation led her to define herself with the thought, “I was born a person without luck.”

After Kim leaves her parents’ house, she lives independently and starts working at the Goldland. Moreover, she falls in love with a man she meets there.

However, she unexpectedly entangled in a mysterious case involving an attempted murder. This strange case is related to an unknown source of gold bars. Because of this, she has to fight to protect her love life and her money.

Production

“Goldland” will be the next project by renowned creators, director Kim Sung Hoon and writer Hwang Jo Yoon. Both are known for their talent and skill in producing works in the thrillers genre. The new series will also be their reunion project after “Rampant” in 2019.

Director Kim Sung Hoon is known for his famous movies such as “My Little Hero,” “Confidential Assignment,” and “Rampant.” This year, he made his directorial debut in a series with the popular Korean drama “Chief Detective 1958.”

Writer Hwang Jo Yoon’s famous works include “Old Boy,” “Masquerade,” “Confidential Assignment,” “Memoir of a Murderer,” and “Rampant.”

Furthermore, Lee Chang Films and Studio Dragon will be responsible for the series’ production. In addition, the discussions regarding its OTT distribution are currently underway.

This casting news has heightened the anticipation among Kdrama fans to see another stunning performance from the 34-year-old actress.

This excitement comes after her outstanding portrayal in “Daily Dose of Sunshine,” for which she won Best Actress at the 3rd Blue Dragon Series Awards 2024, and the series has received a nomination for the Comedy category at the 2024 International Emmy® Awards.

Following her success in “Daily Dose of Sunshine,” the actress is set to lead in new Korean dramas titled “Melo Love”and “Unknown Seoul.” Finally, Park Bo-young’s highly anticipated new drama series, “Light Shop,” will air on December 4.
