K-Drama “Weak Hero Class 1” to Premiere on Netflix
On February 25, Netflix Korea announced that “Weak Hero Class 1” will premiere globally on March 25, 2025. The 2022 hit K-drama will be available for streaming in over 190 countries. Furthermore, the series will be released ahead of “Weak Hero Class 2,” which is scheduled to premiere in the second quarter of 2025 on Netflix.
“Weak Hero Class 1” is an action youth drama based on the Naver Webtoon “Weak Hero” by Seo Pae Seu and Kim Jin Seok.
For the live adaptation, director You Su Min teamed up with Park Dhan Hee to direct the series. Additionally, director You Su Min and Kim Jin Seok (webtoon creator) co-wrote the drama’s script.
The live adaptation of the webtoon series features talented young actors like Park Ji Hoon, Choi Hyun Wook, Hong Kyung, and Kim Su Gyeom.
Before its official release, the series had its three episodes screened at the 27th Busan International Film Festival in October 2022. The series was later released on the OTT platform Wavve in November 2022. The action youth gained widespread popularity, achieving an impressive 45.5% viewership rating.
“Weak Hero Class 1” Storyline
The story centers on Yeon Si Eun (played by Park Ji Hoon), an exemplary student. He unexpectedly gets involved in a cycle of violence inside and outside of school. Together with his friends — Su Ho (played by Choi Hyun Wook) and Beom Seok (played by Hong Kyung) — they stand against all forms of violence.
The action youth drama showcases the uniqueness of its protagonist, Yeon Si Eun. He uses her intelligence as a strategic weapon in fights, a concept known as “brain action.” Director You Su Min skillfully brought the Webtoon’s depiction to life through his unique and stylish vision.
“Weak Hero Class 2”
Yeon Si Eun’s story from first season will continue in “Weak Hero Class 2.” The new season will follow Si Eun as a transfer student at Eunjang High School, where the trauma of failing to protect her friend still haunts him.
As he faces greater violence in this new environment, he is ready to fight with all his strength to protect the people he cares about and never lose a friend again.
Several new cast members will join the series, playing protagonist and antagonist roles. Ryeoun, Choi Min Yeong, and Lee Min Jae will become Yeon Si Eun’s new friends at Eunjang High School.
Meanwhile, Bae Na Ra will be part of a strong group that Si Eun must confront. Additionally, Lee Jun Young will make a special appearance. Notably, Yoo Su Bin will reprise his role as Choi Hyo Man—Si Eun’s opponent, who had a profound impact on him in the first season.
