Son Ye Jin and Ji Chang Wook in Talks for Netflix Remake of “Untold Scandal”
On October 24, YTN News exclusively reported, according to the broadcasting industry, Netflix will remake the 2003 R-rated film “Untold Scandal.” Moreover, Son Ye Jin and Ji Chang Wook will take on the leading roles in this remake.
In response to the casting news, Son Ye Jin’s agency, MSTeam Entertainment, confirmed the news and stated,
“Son Ye Jin has received an offer to star in Netflix’s “Untold Scandal’ and is considering it.”

Similarly, a representative from Ji Chang Wook’s agency, Spring Company, also confirmed the casting news and stated,
“It is true that he has received an offer for the project.”

“Untold Scandal”
Korean film “Untold Scandal” is a live adaptation of the French novel “Dangerous Liaisons” (“Les Liaisons Dangereuses”) by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. The talented director and writer Lee Jae Yong, known for the heartwarming movie “My Brilliant Life,” directed the 2003 film.
Set against the backdrop of 1700s Korea, “Untold Scandal” has a breathtaking plot that blends forbidden love affairs, threatening scandals, broken hearts, and tragedy.
The story follows a wily royal woman, Madam Cho, and the powerful playboy, Jo Won, who are involved in a wild love affair. They make a dangerous bet that involves the virtuous Lady Suk, who will become Madam Cho’s husband’s concubine.
Starring Bae Young Joon as Jo Won, Lee Mi Sook as Madam Cho, and Jeon Do Yeon as Lady Suk, the film received an R rating. Despite being restricted to adults, the movie successfully captivated audiences and attracted over 3 million moviegoers. Moreover, it received numerous awards at various film festivals in Korea and abroad.
Roles of Son Ye Jin and Ji Chang Wook in “Untold Scandal” Remake
In the Netflix “Untold Scandal” remake, the “Crash Landing on You” star will portray Madam Cho, while the “Queen Woo” star will play Jo Won. In addition, director Jung Ji Woo of “Tune in for Love” will take the helm.
The news of the Netflix remake of “Untold Scandal” has received mixed reactions from Korean drama lovers. In particular, director Jung Ji Woo is also known for his R-rated works. Some of these include “Happy End” (1999), “A Muse” (2012), and “Somebody” (2022).”
Furthermore, this historical drama series will be the third recent historical drama to receive an R rating, following “Queen Woo” in 2024 and “Won Gyeong,” which will air in 2025.
Finally, the highly anticipated remake of “Untold Scandal,” is scheduled to begin filming in March next year.
