“Squid Game 2” win for the Best Foreign Language Series category at the 30th Critics Choice Awards marks the series’ second win of this award, following its winning in 2022.
At the 2022 Critics Choice Awards, the first season of the series received three nominations. Those were Best Drama Series, Best Actor in Drama Series, and Best Foreign Language Series. The series won the Best Foreign Language Series, while its lead actor, Lee Jung Jae, took home the Best Actor in Drama Series.
Additionally, “Squid Game 2” became the third Korean-language drama series to win the award after the first “Squid Game” (2022) and “Pachinko“ (2023). It also became the fifth Korean language work to win at the event, joining “Parasite,” “Minari,” “Squid Game” S1, and “Pachinko.”
“Squid Game 2” Global Hit and Final Season 3
In its first week, the highly-anticipated series “Squid Game” Season 2 achieved 68 million views and generated 132 million global viewing hours. These achievements surpassed the first season’s records, which had 50.1 million views and 111 million hours of global viewing.
