THE GLORY Actor Jung Sung Il Will Reportedly Lead a New Drama for The First Time
Following the success and intense chemistry in his previous project, The Glory, rising actor Jung Sung Il will reportedly become the main character in an upcoming new drama.
Sports Chosun exclusively reported on April 13 that The Glory actor Jung Sung Il would soon lead a new drama titled The Guardians. An official from the South Korean entertainment industry told Sports Chosun that a new drama production team, The Guardians had selected The Glory actor Jung Sung Il to lead their upcoming project.
Born in 1980, Jung Sung Il debuted as an actor in 2002 with small roles in various Korean movies. He then rose to fame after landing a support role for Different Dreams drama in 2019. Since then, actor Jung Sung Il has participated in various hit projects, including Strangers 2, Birthcare Center, Bad and Crazy, Moonshine, Our Blues, and The Glory.
Not only that, the actor had also been famous in the world of stage musicals with his beautiful voice and charismatic dancing.
Hence, it means that for the first time after more than 2 decades of acting career, Jung Sung Il will finally get all the spotlight to himself in the upcoming new drama, The Guardians.
Storyline and Role
According to the report, Jung Sung Il new drama The Guardians depicts the struggle of the last defenders of the law.
For the first time in South Korean drama history, viewers will witness a storyline revolving around probation officers and electronic monitoring devices.
Therefore, it will hopefully shine a new perspective to the public on how probation officers conduct their duties to help, monitor, and restrain criminals.
In this new drama, The Glory and Our Blues actor Jung Sung Il will take on his first leading role as Bok Tae Joo.
As a probation officer and electronic monitoring device supervisor, Bok Tae Joo holds an overwhelming sense of justice. In the probational world of officers and criminals, everyone calls him the ‘Grim Reaper’. Why? Because he has zero tolerance for mistakes and will do whatever it takes to put former recidivistic criminals behind bars.
With just the slightest mistake or minor offense, Bok Tae Joo will send anyone back to prison once he believes that they will highly likely commit more crimes in the future.
