The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed the May popularity ranking for Kpop idol groups, with the female group IVE topping the list. Explore the top 50 Kpop idol group brand reputation rankings for May 2024, showcasing both female and male idol groups below.
May 2024 Top Kpop Idol Group Brand Reputation Rankings
The Korean Business Research Institute extracted 84,336,168 pieces of idol group brand big data, including boy groups and girl groups, from April 16 to May 16, 2024. Compared to the 65,367,855 pieces of idol group brand big data in April, there was a 29.02% increase.
Using the most recent brand big data, the institute conducted a comprehensive consumer behavior analysis to determine the brand’s reputation index. This analysis considered key factors such as brand participation, media coverage, communication, and community indexes. Based on this index, they established the latest brand reputation rankings of Kpop idol groups.

TOP 5
1. IVE
In May 2024, IVE secured the top position and gained the following indexes:
- Participation Index: 1,483,100
- Media Index: 1,748,177
- Communication Index: 2,326,017
- Community Index: 2,219,576
As a result, the group earned a brand reputation index of 7,776,870. Compared to the brand reputation index of 2,261,882 last April, it rose 243.82%, with the following indexes.
Further, in link analysis, the group’s most popular related terms were “lucky,” “original,” and challenging.” Meanwhile, the group’s keywords analysis revealed “must,” “ascendio,” and “Korean style” to be the most popular keywords. In addition, IVE scored a positive ratio of 90.61% in sentiment analysis.
2. ILLIT
Dropping to the second place, ILLIT, the Kpop group whose debut song became the fastest to reach 200 million streams on Spotify, achieved the following index:
- Participation Index: 1,067,470
- Media Index: 1,224,829
- Communication Index: 1,789,194
- Community Index: 1,917,699
Despite a slight drop in rank, the rookie group ILLIT has shown tremendous growth, with their brand reputation index soaring by 18.91%, rising from 5,045,265 in April to 5,999,192 in May.
3. SEVENTEEN
Similarly to ILLIT, SEVENTEEN dropped to the third position this month. The group achieved the following indices:
- Participation Index: 627,004
- Media Index: 1,100,229
- Communication Index: 1,885,980
- Community Index: 2,041,034
Despite dropping to the third position, the group’s brand reputation index increased by 51.14% in May, from 3,741,080 in April to 5,654,248.
4 (G)I-DLE
Remaining in the fourth position this month, the Kpop girl group (G)I-DLE achieved the following indices:
- Participation Index: 421,814
- Media Index: 578,500
- Communication Index: 1,157,192
- Community Index: 2,265,266
Consequently, the girl group’s brand reputation index increased by 49.01%. They earned 2,968,167 last month and surged to 4,422,772 this month.
5. LE SSERAFIM
Rounding out the top five on the list, LE SSERAFIM achieved the following indexes:
- Participation Index: 894,504
- Media Index: 901,327
- Communication Index: 1,028,078
- Community Index: 1,558,877
As a result, LE SSERAFIM achieved a brand reputation index of 4,382,785 this month. Compared to the brand reputation index of 2,089,941 last April, it rose by 109.71%.
