1st Blue Dragon Series Awards
The Blue Dragon Film Awards is a prestigious annual ceremony presented by Sports Chosun for South Korean movies. This year, Sports Chosun will organize the first-ever Blue Dragon Series Awards (BSA) 2022, which created exclusively for Korean dramas and variety shows that are available on television and OTT in South Korea.
Since 2020, Korean dramas and variety shows have captured global audiences’ hearts during the mandatory stay-at-home period due to the pandemic outbreak. Like, hits series “Crash Landing on You,” “Kingdom,” “Sweet Home,” “Vincenzo,” “Squid Game,” “D.P.,” “Yumi’s Cells,” “All of Us Are Dead,” and more.
Therefore, the Blue Dragon Series Awards aim to praise Korean dramas and shows that have received tremendous global acclaim. In addition, the first Blue Dragon Series Awards in 2022 will have 12 categories for Korean dramas and variety shows.
For the drama category, there are awards for Best Drama, Best Actor & Actress, Best Supporting Actor & Actress, and Best New Actor & Actress. Meanwhile, for the entertainment category, there are the Best Entertainment Program, Best Male and Female Entertainer, and Best New Male and Female New Entertainer.
Date and Hosts
The first-ever Blue Dragon Series Awards ceremony will take place this year on July 19 at 7 p.m. KST at Paradise City in Incheon. And, Girls’ Generation’s YoonA and Jun Hyun Moo will be the hosts of the first Blue Dragon Series Awards 2022 ceremony. In addition, the event will be live broadcast through Naver Now and LG Uplus.

A number of Korean dramas and variety shows from several streaming services, including Netflix, Disney+, seezn, Apple TV+, WATCHA, wavve, Kakao TV, Coupang Play, and TVING, were nominated in the available categories.
The Korean drama series and variety shows that are eligible for nominations were produced, invested, and released from May 1, 2021, to April 30, 2022.
