Not only that, but the recent data also showed that the “Arthdal Chronicles”Season 2 rating has decreased more than half of the previous episodes.
The report further elaborated that episode 6 of “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 new Korean drama even recorded 2.2%.The episode airing on September 23 received less than half of the viewership rating for “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 previous 4 episodes, which recorded 5% on average.

What REALLY Happened Behind the SEVERE Drop in Rating of “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2
So, what really happened behind this unexpected plummeting rating of “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2? Was it really because of the cast change that “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 new Korean drama previously suffered?
The answer is not at all. According to South Korea’s broadcasting industry, the dramatic decrease in the “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 rating was due to the rash decisions behind its broadcasting schedules.
Over the past two weeks, “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 has faced significant scheduling changes tvN previously canceled the airing of “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 on September 24. As a result, the new Korean drama must air two episodes on September 23: episodes 5 and 6.
However, they seemingly overlooked the fact that each episode of “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 averages around 70 minutes. Therefore, when episode 5 eventually aired, it was already 12 AM at midnight. According to the broadcasting industry, it was inevitable that viewers would leave the new Korean drama at the time.\
TenAsia further reported that tvN changed the broadcasting schedule due to the live broadcast of the Asian Games.
Although tvN did not air the sports event, it appeared they decided to cancel the September 24 broadcast to avoid a drop in the viewership ratings.
Unfortunately, this decision was proven to be a blunder. While it is true that the Asian Games has absorbed the attention of most viewers, not everyone proved to be an avid sports fan. Therefore, by canceling the schedule, tvN has allegedly robbed the viewers’ rights to watch the new Korean drama conveniently.
As a result, “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 must suffer a massive blow in its viewership rating.
It Was NOT Because of the Cast Change Controversy of the New Korean Drama
Finally, the severe plummet in the “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 rating was definitely not because of the cast change.
Previously, “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 suffered a severe controversy due to the unforeseen change in the main cast. The previous main actors, Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won, decided to leave the series. As a result, the production team must find suitable replacements to portray the main characters: Eun Seom / Saya and Tan Ya.
Globally renowned actor Lee Joon Gi and former child actress Shin Se Kyung eventually came to the rescue. Although their presence had caused massive controversy as the cast replacement of “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2, their performances proved to be impressively praiseworthy. That is why the new Korean drama managed to secure one of highest premiere ratings.
And most importantly, “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 managed to maintain its average viewership ratings at 5% on episodes 1 – 4.
The severe drop in the recent rating of the new Korean drama was definitely not because of the “Arthdal Chronicles”Season 2 new cast. Instead, it was due to the rash decisions of the broadcasting company.
