The production team of “Arthdal Chronicles” reportedly cast actors Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung for its upcoming season 2 – check out the following update and release date.
“Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 UPDATE: Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung Cast as Lead Role
Korean blockbuster series, “Arthdal Chronicles” will soon resume its production for Season 2, and this time, the team surprised the viewers with a brand-new cast as the lead role.
On April 20, a source from the industry reported that “Arthdal Chronicles” production team had cast Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung for Season 2. According to the report, both actors will play the lead roles, in replacement of Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won.
“Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 Storyline Update – What Will the Storyline Talk About?
After its success in Season 1, “Arthdal Chronicles” will return with a brand-new storyline for season 2.
Instead of becoming an immediate continuance of season 1, “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 will discuss more about what happens in Arth after a decade pass. However, it will still involve the adult version of Eun Seom, the Wahan tribe member who was born from a human mother and a Neanderthal, and Tan Ya, the direct successor of the Wahan Clan.

Once the casting report circulated on the internet and social media, many Kdrama fans started wondering whether Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung will truly replace the predecessor cast of Eun Seom and Tan Ya, Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won.
As we all know, the success of “Arthdal Chronicles” season 1 actually came with a price. The nation is basically divided into two opinions: the loyal enthusiasts and the critics. Despite its breakthrough idea and storyline, “Arthdal Chronicles” received severe criticism for its poor CG and alleged plagiarism.
Despite all the challenges, the production company, Studio Dragon, still believes that there’s a promising future for “Arthdal Chronicles”. Therefore, even after its previous director Kim Won Seok and main actors Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won quit the projects due to various reasons, Studio Dragon did not give up.

So yes, the answer is, if actors Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung decided to accept the offer, they would be the ones replacing Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won for the roles of Eun Seom and Tan Ya.

Following the cast report of “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2, the agencies of Lee Joon Gi (Namoo Actors) and Shin Se Kyung (EDAM Entertainment) released an official statement. According to both agencies, Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung had yet to confirm whether to take the role since “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2 was among many offers that came to the actors.

Previously on February 21, Studio Dragon confirmed that they had started the production process of “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2. Writers Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon will return to continue their story in the land of Arth under director Kim Kwang Sik of “The Great Battle”.
“The second season of ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ is being prepared with an aim to film this year. The cast, broadcast timing, and platform have not been confirmed yet.”

Therefore, since the production company has to deal with another process of the new cast for “Arthdal Chronicles” Season 2, it is highly likely that we’re going to wait until next year for its official release date.
