In Kpop, it is very common to have a specific role in the group, like main vocal, main dancer, visual, and LEADER. However, some several groups and duos decided to go without an official leader. Even so, they still do amazingly well in the entertainment industry.

One of the first Kpop girl groups to make their debut without a designated leader is Miss A. Although the group has disbanded, they left wonderful footprints in the Kpop industry.

2. BLACKPINK

Being trainees for years, BLACKPINK members showcase a very close friendship. Hence, they decided not to have a designated leader and share the same burden together.

3. Secret Number

Debuted in May 2020, Secret Number decided not to have a designated leader. Not only having no leader, Secret Number also change its members in less than two years after their debut. After Denise decided to leave the group, they no longer consist of 5 members, but 6 members: Jinny, Soodam, Dita, Léa, Zuu and Minji.

4. VIVIZ

SinB, Eunha, and Umji still took Sowon as leader

VIVIZ is made up of 3 members of GFRIEND: SinB, Eunji, and Umha. According to SinB, VIVIZ didn’t choose any leader because they still took Sowon as their leader.

“We said to each other that Sowon is our only leader. ‘It’s alright. We won’t have another leader.’ We didn’t choose another leader.”

5. iKON

The original leader of iKON is B.I. However, following his drug allegations issue, iKON has no designated leader.

6. AB6IX

The Kpop boy group AB6IX initially chose Youngmin as their leader. However, following the DUI incident, Youngmin decided to leave the group. Since then, AB6IX remains to have no designated leader.

7. 2PM

Upon the debut, 2PM appointed Jay Park as the leader. However, he decided to leave the group. Since then, 2PM has become one of the Kpop boy groups without a leader.

8. ONEUS

Taken the tradition of Kpop boy groups, each ONEUS member is in charge of a specific position. But, none of the members is a leader. However, fans often mistake Ravn as the leader because he is the eldest and usually answers questions for the group in interviews. In fact, ONEUS is one of the Kpop boy groups without a leader that receive so much attention and love from Kpop fans.

9. JYJ

Decided to leave SM Entertainment and TVXQ after disputes, the members of JYJ never appointed a leader. Although without a designated leader, JYJ is doing good; even Jaejoong and Junsu are coming back soon with the upcoming Japanese Drama OST.

10. AKMU

Most Kpop duos or trios have an appointed leader; however, it’s not the case with AKMU. Because Lee Suhyun and Lee Chanhyuk are biological siblings, they chose not to have an official leader.

11. KARD

BM, J.Seph, Somin, and Jiwoo, KARD decided not to appoint anyone to be the group leader. This is probably because each member has strong leadership qualities.
