Sooyoung and Gong Myung: Chemistry, Challenges, and Behind-the-Scenes of Latest K-Drama “Second Shot at Love”

Biggest Challenges and Breakthrough Scenes
Q: What preparations did you make when shaping your character? What was the biggest challenge during filming? Which scenes were the most memorable or considered your most incredible breakthrough?
Sooyoung: In the beginning, there was a drunken scene in every episode, so I thought a lot about how to act drunk in a way that felt true to the character. That part was probably the hardest challenge for me. The most challenging scene was in episode 1, where I had to spray water like a fountain onto my mother’s face. I wasn’t very good at it, so I practiced by showering, and that’s what I remember the most.
Gong Myung: Since ‘Seo Ui Joon’ is a doctor, I had many discussions with the director about how to deliver a tone and actions that would be trustworthy both professionally and in daily life. I think we worked together to set the direction for that. The most challenging scene was when Ui Joon helps the village elders with their tasks and ends up singing a song.
First Impressions and Building Chemistry
Q: This is the first time both of you have worked together. How did you build chemistry between each other? What was your first impression of each other, and how did it change as you got to know each other better?
Sooyoung: Gong Myung is kind and always considerate of his co-actors, so the shooting was really comfortable and fun. He’s a great actor and a genuinely good person, and I feel so lucky to have met him as a partner in this title.
Gong Myung: This is the first time we’re acting together, but it felt like we’ve worked together for a long time; it matched so well. Sooyoung has such a great personality, so we quickly became close and supported each other while filming.
Real-Life Habits and Little Addictions
Q: In the drama, Han Geum Ju is addicted to alcohol. In real life, are there any items or habits you are particularly addicted to or dependent on, now or in the past? Can you share any experiences or insights? (It could be something fun or interesting.)
Sooyoung: I don’t enjoy drinking much, so nothing comes to my mind right away, but in terms of drinking, the temperature of the drink is very important. When I have beer, I prefer to drink it from a cold glass, and when I have wine, I usually drink it from a tumbler that keeps it cool.
Gong Myung: I place a high value on sleep. I believe that sleep helps recharge my energy, so I try to sleep well. Recently, I’ve also been focusing more on my health and taking vitamin supplements.

Three Words for Each Other
Q: Use three words to describe your co-star.
Sooyoung: Handsome guy, First love, All-around entertainer.
Gong Myung: Smart, Reliable, Partner
Favorite Scenes and Behind-the-Scenes TMI
Q: What is your favorite scene in the drama and what is a TMI in filming the scene?
Sooyoung: In episode 1, there’s a scene where Geum Ju cries. I think I spent a lot of time thinking about the character’s emotional journey, and since it wasn’t easy to immerse myself in it, that scene feels particularly meaningful to me.
Gong Myung: I’m attached to the scene where Ui Joon expresses his feelings. It’s a turning point for the relationship between Ui Joon and Geum Ju, and both of them came across beautifully, so I’m excited to see it.
