Korea University to Exclude Students with School Bullying Cases

With the immense popularity of Netflix’ The Glory, people around the world pay more attention to school bullying cases, especially which happened in South Korea. Therefore, Korea University recently announced that they would not accept students with a school violence record.

School Violence Is An Unforgivable Crime

Being victims of bullying cases at school is not an easy thing to forget and move on. The trauma can be severe and haunt the victim the rest of their life. However, many perpetrators can comfortably move on with their lives; and even have a better life, like what we see in Kdrama The Glory.

Another real story was the son of attorney Jung Su Sin, who was a school violence perpetrator with a punishment of level 8, got accepted into one of the most prestigious schools in South Korea, Seoul National University.

Sadly, the victim of this case suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and even attempted suicide due to the trauma of school violence.

On March 22, in an exclusive interview with E-Daily, Chancellor Kim Dong Won emphasized the need for stern action against perpetrators of school violence. Additionally, he stated that even if the students achieve a passing score on the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), but have a history of school violence, they should be disqualified.

The Korea University’s chancellor also stated that it is important to include disciplinary records of school violence in the regular admission selection process. The policy comes with the hope to prevent school bullying to happen. A clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated.
