After a tearful announcement and heartbreaking farewell speech for AROHA fans, ASTRO eldest hyung and main vocalist MJ finally enlisted in the military.
On May 9, ASTRO members, staff, and MJ himself shared some documentation prior to his military enlistment date. Showing off his brand-new military haircut, ASTRO MJ bid farewell to his fans in the caption.

May it always be filled with light.

Along with the caption, ASTRO MJ also added a heartwarming hashtag, reminding AROHA that he would always be forever with them

At the same time, ASTRO staff also updated AROHA and bid their farewell by posting photos of MJ prior to his military enlistment.

ASTRO Members Rocky and JinJin Sincerely Sending MJ Off on Military Enlistment Date
In addition to MJ farewell message, ASTRO members Rocky and JinJin kept the fans updated while sending their hyung off on his military enlistment date.
ASTRO Rocky posted a video of MJ enlisting in the military with a hopeful message. He bid his farewell to MJ while wishing him to return safely once the military service is completed. He also promised to wait for him together with AROHA fans.

Meanwhile, ASTRO JinJin kept AROHA fans updated by posting photos of the three of them on MJ military enlistment date. Along with the pictures, JinJin wrote a tearful note in the caption.
In the message, ASTRO JinJin revealed that he felt uneasy sending MJ off for his military enlistment. However, he felt at ease at the same time because he was able to be with MJ until the very end.
“AROHA! We have sent M-hyung off well. And we have now returned to Seoul.
Haha. I feel uneasy, and my heart is aching, but I feel at ease on the other hand because I was with him together until the end!

NO MJ in ASTRO May 2022 Comeback?
Finally, now that MJ is officially enlisting in the military, the main question is whether ASTRO will really make their comeback in May 2022 without him.
After all, the official comeback date for ASTRO is on May 16 next week. With MJ enlisting in the military yesterday, does it mean that ASTRO will perform their comeback stages next week without their main vocalist?
As of today, no official announcement is available from the ASTRO official agency, Fantagio. Therefore, the answer may be both yes and no. After all, seeing that some comeback stage videos are usually pre-recorded, chances are we will still be able to see MJ performing in some performances with his fellow ASTRO members.
However, there will still be performances in which ASTRO members need to perform live or pre-record on the same day. In this case, ASTRO would need to perform with 5 members for May 2022 comeback following MJ military enlistment date.
