The Korean Business Research Institute released the brand reputation rankings for the top 50 Kpop idol groups in December 2023. These rankings reveal the current state of popularity and influence among Kpop idols. BLACKPINK, NewJeans, BTS, SEVENTEEN, and IVE stood out as the most popular and influential groups. The list features male and female idol groups, creating a diverse and exciting lineup for Kpop fans worldwide. December 2023 Kpop Idol Group Brand Reputation Rankings
The Korean Business Research Institute collected 73,083,767 data points on idol group brand reputation from November 14 to December 14, 2023, focusing on Kpop groups. This analysis integrates both male and female groups to determine overall brand reputation. Compared to the 73,497,025 data points collected in November, there was a decrease of 0.56%.
The Institute conducted a comprehensive consumer behavior analysis using the collected data to determine the brand reputation index. This index was calculated based on measurements of consumer participation, media coverage, communication, and community engagement related to each idol group’s brand. These analyses determined the brand reputation rankings for each Kpop idol group.
In December 2023, the ranking of brand reputation for Kpop idol groups revealed that BLACKPINK, NewJeans, BTS, SEVENTEEN, and IVE were the leading Kpop idol groups in terms of popularity.
Top 5 Kpop Idol Groups
1. BLACKPINK
In December 2023, BLACKPINK, the Kpop girl group that recently renewed their contract for group activities, claimed the first position in the idol group brand reputation rankings. The link analysis conducted on the group identified “contract renewal,” “collaboration,” and “surge” as the popular related terms. In addition, the keywords analysis revealed that “‘exclusive contract,” “Yang Hyun Suk,” and “YG Entertainment” were the most popular keywords associated with BLACKPINK. Based on the comprehensive analysis, BLACKPINK achieved impressive results in December 2023 as follows:

BLACKPINK’s brand reputation index for December 2023 reached an impressive 5,711,207, marking a remarkable increase of 118.35% compared to November’s index of 2,615,609. This increase also signifies a substantial accomplishment for the group, solidifying their influence and success in the Kpop industry.
2. NewJeans
The Kpop girl group NewJeans, set to perform at the annual New Year’s Eve celebration “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” secured the second position on the ranking. Based on a comprehensive analysis, the group achieved impressive results as follows:

- Communication Index: 1,847,576
- Community Index: 1,646,741
As a result, the group achieved a brand reputation index of 4,938,338 this month. Compared to November’s brand reputation index of 4,067,932, it rose by 21.40%. This growth showcases the group’s rising popularity and positive perception among the public.
3. BTS
The Kpop sensation BTS secured the third position in this month’s rankings. However, with the last four members currently on military service, the group’s activities are temporarily on hiatus. Nevertheless, their label remains committed to maintaining fan engagement by continuously releasing content from the BTS members during their absence. This proactive approach ensures that fans remain connected and entertained despite the temporary hiatus of the group. According to the analysis, BTS achieved the following results:
- Participation Index: 429,338
- Media Index: 922,724
- Communication Index: 1,648,642
- Community Index: 1,701,643
As a result, BTS achieved a brand reputation index of 4,702,347 in December. This figure marks a 22.37% decline compared to last November’s index of 6,057,076. Despite this decrease, BTS remains popular and maintains a strong connection with their fanbase.
4. SEVENTEEN
Pledis’ Kpop boy group SEVENTEEN, who recently surprised fans with a new trot remix single, dropped to fourth position on the list. According to the analysis, here are the results they achieved:

- Media Index: 791,148
- Communication Index: 1,104,048
- Community Index: 1,337,144
In December 2023, SEVENTEEN obtained a brand reputation index of 3,769,086. It decreased by 17.70% compared to November’s index of 4,579,540. Despite this decrease in brand reputation, SEVENTEEN remains a famous and influential group in the Kpop industry with a dedicated fanbase.
5. IVE
Kpop girl group IVE, which made an international impact with their hit song “I’AM” and made a list in Billboard’s 25 Best Kpop Songs of 2023, dropped to fifth position this month. According to the analysis, the group achieved as follows:
