Welcome, Actor Kim Kibum! Officially Signed with New Agency for Acting Career
Former Super Junior member Kim Kibum finally returned as an actor following his long hiatus after leaving Super Junior in 2009.
On January 13, PA Entertainment released an official statement that former Super Junior member, Actor Kim Kibum, signed a contract with the new agency. This entertainment agency that is also home to TRAX Jung Mo, Park Si Hwan, Novasonic, and Emerald Castle, stated that they would entirely support Actor Kim Kibum with his journey and career in acting.
“We have signed an exclusive contract with Kim Ki Bum and plan to give him our complete support so he will be able to resume his active promotions as an actor. So please send him your support, attention, and encouragements.”

Why Kim Kibum Leaving Super Junior?
Previously in 2009, shortly after the release of Super Junior ‘Sorry, Sorry’ album, Kim Kibum decided to leave the group. The general public wondered why Kibum decided to leave Super Junior in times when the group was at the peak of its career. Many even assumed that there were frictions and conflicts happening within Super Junior that caused Kim Kibum leaving.
However, in January 2021, Kim Kibum uploaded a video via his YouTube channel, Yangban Kim Kibum. In the video, Kim Kibum reminisced with his hyung, Kim Heechul, about moments when he was still in Super Junior.
Kibum was Struggling in Super Junior
There were many facts revealed about Kibum’s struggle within the group, including the fact that he couldn’t sing, and being in the recording room intimidated him so much.
“You were so nervous whenever we were doing a recording. Because of your pronunciation, you had to bite pen and practice, and you feel intimidated whenever you go to the recording room. Honestly, it’s because you weren’t good at singing, so Kibummie continuously felt that way, and he felt nothing would work.”

Immediately, Kim Kibum confirmed Heechul’s statement and story about how he would feel sorry to other Super Junior members due to his horrible singing.
“That’s completely right. I was so embarrassed I felt like dying. That was why I told them to just leave out my part completely, and finally, I didn’t have any parts in later songs.”

That’s when Kibum felt more at peace.
The Main Reason Kim Kibum Leaving Super Junior: Acting
And then Kim Heechul started asking about the reason Kim Kibum leaving Super Junior like a true reporter. At these questions, Kim Kibum answered that he just told the group that he decided to let go and leave.
“I told them, ‘I’m gonna let go and leave the group’.”

Furthermore, regarding speculations that Kim Kibum leaving Super Junior because of friction and bullying, he answered that the main reason was because of acting.
“Are you asking if I were hit? No. It’s just because I want to focus on acting.”

It’s no wonder, actually. After all, Kim Kibum originally debuted as an actor for KBS Drama ‘Sharp 2’ in 2005 before joining Super Junior.
Kim Kibum and His Huge Struggle During Hiatus after Leaving Super Junior
Then, in another interview, Kim Kibum revealed another story of his struggle that led him to long hiatus. After leaving Super Junior, Kim Kibum worked on his own to pursue an acting career and build his reputation as an actor. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to work for him at the time. He tried promoting solo in Korea, but many of his projects fell apart.
“After leaving SM Entertainment, I worked alone for a year. First, I drove myself, but then I thought I would be too tired while driving. So that’s why I rode the staff’s bus to get around.
Then, I finally learned that this wasn’t something I could do alone and tried to do things I couldn’t do before. While doing these things, I learned about gratefulness.
I tried a lot on my own. I filmed dramas, but they didn’t air. There were—I think—about three dramas that didn’t air because I filmed at least one drama a year. Still, they weren’t shown to the public.”

Kim Kibum: New Agency, New Future
