BTS to Support Busan as Ambassador for Bidding as World Expo 2030 Host – with a GLOBAL CONCERT!

For those of you who were wondering if BTS was really going into a complete group hiatus, the boys now have definite evidence of their answer. Within only days after their official announcement of the new era, BTS has surprised the public with a group activity to support their country in its bid as a host for World Expo 2030. 

HYBE Executives Signed an MOU with Busan Metropolitan City

On June 24, HYBE executives Bang Si Hyuk and Park Jiwon signed an MOU with Busan Metropolitan City. The MOU contains details of BTS participation in supporting South Korea for their bids to host World Expo 2030 in Busan. 

In the MOU, HYBE promised to support the negotiation process. The company will be joining Busan’s cultural projects to build cultural infrastructure and promote the city’s culture. HYBE will also help attract more private partners from South Korea’s cultural content industry.

“Given the importance of its bid as a nation to host the World Expo 2030 in Busan, BTS and HYBE will do our best to bring the World Expo to Busan successfully. 

It will be a great opportunity to contribute to further development of K-Culture and its local pop cultures in Busan.”

BTS Various Tasks as The Ambassador Includes Holding Global Concert

Along with the company, BTS members are expected to fully cooperate and provide full support during Busan World Expo 2030 bidding process as well. The MOU also comprehensively explained the tasks BTS must convey as the ambassador of the bidding and negotiation process for hosting the World Expo 2030 in Busan.

According to the MOU, BTS job as the ambassador includes personally guiding the secretariat team of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) members during their Busan visit next year. Furthermore, BTS is also in charge of presenting and giving a supporting message to the Enquiry Mission of BIE.

Later during the voting event in November 2023, BTS members will personally attend the BIE General Assembly. This assembly is a meeting where they vote to select the World Expo 2030 host.

In the Assembly, BTS will serve as the public relations ambassador of South Korea. They will present and introduce Busan to the members of BIE General Assembly. And later, they will convince them why Busan is the perfect place for the massive event.

Moreover, BTS will also actively cooperate by shooting photo and video ads for digital publicity. And they will also participate in spreading the ads and promotions via social media. 

And finally, BTS to hold a global concert in Busan as their support for the negotiation process to bring World Expo 2030 to South Korea.

What is World Expo and Why Is It So Important?

The World Expo is one of the world’s oldest, largest, and most historic events. It takes place every five years in different cities all around the world.

For SIX whole months of the event, various countries all around the world will come and participate in promoting and showcasing the very best quality they offer. This event’s purpose is to assist people and nations worldwide to learn by sharing ideas and demonstrating innovations. That way, they can build further the development path, especially in technology, culture, and architecture.

Previously, South Korea participated in the World Expo 2020 in Dubai. At the Dubai Expo 2020, South Korea invited Stray Kids as the official ambassador, along with PSY, Sunmi, (G)I-DLE, Golden Child, and Forestella to perform on stage.

The importance and gravity of the event is the main reason why every time World Expo is about to take place, many cities around the world compete relentlessly to obtain the right as the host.

When is BTS Global Concert for Busan World Expo 2030?

Finally, Busan Mayor Park Hyung Jun expressed his gratitude to HYBE and BTS for accepting the role. He claimed that BTS participation in the negotiation process will further elevate the significance and efforts to bring World Expo 2030 to Busan.
