SM Entertainment New Girl Group 'aespa' to Debut in November 2020

On October 26, SM Entertainment has officially announced the name of their new girl group ‘aespa’ to debut next month and have started their debut promotions by releasing teaser photos and videos on its SNS.

The last time SM Entertainment debuted a new Kpop girl group was in 2014, which was Red Velvet. Then in 2016, SM Entertainment debuted a Kpop boy group NCT in 2016. So, for 4 years no new group, SM Entertainment will debut a new Kpop girl group.

After being rumored for a long time that they would be debuting a new group, right at 1 a.m. KST (26/10), SM Entertainment revealed their new girl group ‘aespa.’ Moreover, SM Entertainment has also announced the promotion of the debut of a new girl group by releasing an attractive animation like a butterfly.

The Girl Group aespa’s accounts to follow

Aespa’s logo video and image have been shared through aespa’s official SNS account (Twitter and Instagram) and YouTube channel. Those accounts were created in June and just updated today (10/26).

Meaning of AESPA

SM Entertainment explains that AESPA is a combination of ‘Avatar, Experience, and Aspect.’ The word ‘aspect’ means that this group has different sides. The group name is expected to symbolize meet another side of yourself while experiencing a new world.
