These are the TOP 10 Best KPop Girl Groups of All Time Selected by Korean News Outlet

On September 14, the YouTube channel “KOREA NOW,” Yonhap News Agency’s official English YouTube channel of South Korean media outlet has released the top 10 best and most popular Kpop girl groups of all time. Although it is an unranked list, it considered sales, tours, ability, awards won, longevity, and more.

Top 10 Best and Most Popular KPop Girl Groups of All Time Selected by Korean Media Outlet.

BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK is a quartet girl group consisting of Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé debuted in 2015 under YG Entertainment. Their first single, ‘Boombayah,’ is the most-viewed K-pop debut music video, surpassing 1 billion views on YouTube on October 13, 2020. Right now, the group has become the world’s No. 1 artist with 1.3 million YouTube subscribers.’ Moreover, each of the members also has significant followers on Instagram.

TWICE

KPop girl group TWICE debuted under JYP Entertainment on October 20, 2015. The girl group with nine members (Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu) formed through a competition reality show ‘SIXTEEN.’

They became the first Kpop girl group that top two of Billboard’s world charts in the same year with the “Twicetagram” album and song “Likey.” They also became the first KPop girl group that earned Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of Japan and Gaon.

MAMAMOO

KPop girl group MAMAMOO debuted in 2014 under RBW Entertainment. With four members group (Moonbyul, Solar, Wheein, and Hwasa) who have amazing vocals, they carry retro, jazz, and R&B concepts. Their debut song ‘Mr. Ambiguous’ which has retro and funk rhythm, became one of the best debuts in 2014.

SNSD (Girls’ Generation)

SNSD’ Girls Generation’ is a girl group with eight members and debuted under SM Entertainment in 2007. They are dubbed as ‘The Nation’ Girl Group.’ They are considered as the significant Korean act that introducing the Hallyu Wave into the international stage.

2NE1

YG Entertainment introduced the first girl group with hip hop and Kpop mix music concept, 2NE1, in 2009. Thus, 2NE1 became one of the top ten best and most popular Kpop girl groups of all time. The girl group consisted of four members CL, Dara, Park Bom, and Minzy. Unfortunately, YG announced that 2NE1 disbanded in 2016.

Red Velvet

Formed under SM Entertainment, Red Velvet is consists of five members (Irene, Seukgi, Yeri, Joy, and Wendy). Since they debuted in 2014, many of their albums have topped the chart. They also gained enormous achievements in music, choreography, and popularity.

APink

Debuted in 2011, APink is a Kpop girl group that keeps their sweet, innocent, and bright girls concept. Along the way, they developed it to be a more independent and mature side girls concept without leaving their original concept.

GFRIEND

KPop GFRIEND debuted in 2015 under a modest company, Source Music. With six members Sowon, Ye Rin, Eunha, Yuju, Sin B, and Umji, they had bright and sweet girls concept. Their music and prominent personalities have made them one of the biggest Kpop girl groups that have successfully introduced the Hallyu Wave abroad. But, unfortunately, the group disbanded on May 22, 2021.

(G)I-DLE

(G)I-DLE is a Kpop girl group that debuted in 2018 under Cube Entertainment. With their rising popularity in the first year of debut, they dubbed ‘the monster of 2018.” The agency allowed them to participate in the creative process of their music, choreography, videos, photoshoot, and outfit.

ITZY

ITZY debuted in 2019 under JYP Entertainment. They are dubbed as Rookie of the Year and earned some awards in the same year, such as Rookie of the Year at the 34th Golden Disc Awards, Best New Female Artist in Melon Music Awards, and Mnet Asian Music Awards.
