Cha Seung Won, Jang Ki Yong, Roh Jeong Eui, and Kim Dae Myung May Join Forces in New Webtoon-based Drama “Pigpen”
On May 24, multiple news outlets reported that Cha Seung Won, Jang Ki Yong, Kim Dae Myung, and Roh Jeong Eui will star in a new Korean drama series adaptation of the popular webtoon “Pigpen” (literal title).
In response to the reports, a representative from Cha Seung Won and Jang Ki Yong’s agency, YG Entertainment, stated that both actors have received offers to star in “Pigpen” and are currently reviewing them. Furthermore, Roh Jeong Eui’s agency, NAMOO Actors, and Kim Dae Myung’s agency, UAA (United Artist Agency), have also confirmed that their actors have received the offer and are considering it.
Webtoon “Pigpen”
“Pigpen” centers on Song Jin Hyeok, a young man who wakes up on a remote island beach following a shipwreck. Stranded without memory and puzzled about his arrival, he explores the island. Along the way, he stumbles upon a mysterious and elegant mansion inhabited by an isolated, enigmatic family. As his memories slowly resurface, a series of mysterious events unfolds.
Production
Director Kim Sang Man will direct the upcoming webtoon-based drama series, while Kim Carnby will be responsible for the script.
Kim Sang Man gained recognition for his work as the art director of the hit Korean movie “Joint Security Area,” which featured Song Kang Ho, Lee Young Ae, and Lee Byung Hun in lead roles.
The popular thriller webtoon “PigPen” was written by Kim Carnby and illustrated by Cheon Beom Sik. Moreover, Kim Carnby is the author of the popular webtoon-based Korean drama series “Sweet Home” on Netflix. The Netflix series stood out as one of the best Korean thriller dramas in 2020 with an impressive cast, including Song Kang Ho and Lee Do Hyun.
In addition, according to the report, this upcoming project is currently under discussion for OTT programming.
