Interesting Facts: SHINee Comeback Album “Don’t Call Me”

1. SHINee first comeback since 2018

With the new album Don’t Call Me, SHINee makes their first comeback since their latest album, The Story of Light, in 2018.

During the interview with MTV, Key said, “We’ve been waiting for this for a long time. At the beginning of the recording, it was awkward, but it feels so natural now. I feel like, yeah, I’m back.”

2. Different vibe from debut

SHINee looks different from the time they debuted under SM Entertainment in 2008. At that time, the boys sang Replay, a song about impressing an older woman. They became a trendsetter in the Kpop world with their skinny jeans, high top, and sneakers.

Don’t Call Me gives a fresh yet strong impression SHINee has never shown to the fans. SHINee most fashionable member, Key, was actively included in making the outfit concept. They want to show the new sides of SHINee without losing their characteristics.

3. Album unique promotion

SHINee announced that they would have an ARS promotion SHINee is calling. SHINee opened a hotline (local 1811-0525, overseas +82-70-7103-0525) to communicate with fans. After the opening, more than 1,000 calls per 10 seconds came.

“Our album title is Don’t Call Me, so we decided to do an ARS promotion which goes along with the album concept. This was a new thing for us, and we got an excellent response. We’re grateful for that,” said Minho

4. Nine tracks album with different genres

SHINee’s 7th album consists of nine tracks which include R&B, EDM, dance, and reggae. The title track, Don’t Call Me, is a hip-hop dance song, which tells about love betrayal.

One of the other tracks we should add to our playlist is Heart Attack. The track is produced by KENZIE and Andrew Choi and has a playful nuance.

5. Challenging choreography

SHINee members took part in creating choreography for the title track. However, they found the choreography is challenging, especially for members who just have done military service like Minho, “I needed around two months to adapt with the dance movements for this comeback.”

Besides, Onew added, “My body sometimes seems not synced when I danced. But Taemin and Key helped me a lot with this.”

6. #1 iTunes Album Chart in more than 40 countries

In less than 24 hours, SHINee’s Don’t Call Me has placed on the #1 iTunes Album Chart in more than 40 countries.

The title track with the same name also has brought Key, Minho, Taemin, and Onew as Kpop boy group with the second-highest chart in Melon 24Hits.
