Throughout 2021, there were nine tracks from only 5 Kpop groups, and singers reached the HOT 100. The Kpop most-dominating boy group, BTS, collected four new wins, including Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance, and My Universe featuring Coldplay. However, BTS is not the only one on the HOT 100 chart. In fact, there were new Kpop stars that hit HOT 100 for the first time in 2021. Let’s check out who they are.
Kpop Stars that Hit HOT 100 for the First Time in 2021
BLACKPINK Rosé
Despite a quiet year for the group, BLACKPINK Rosé raised to #70 at the chart with her solo debut single, “On the Ground.” Rosé started 2021 by officially releasing her solo debut album,”R.” The love from BLINKs and Kpop fans worldwide made her the second solo female Kpop singer to be on the HOT 100 chart.
BLACKPINK Lisa
Another BLACKPINK member who released a solo debut album in 2021 is Lisa with “Lalisa.” Around six months after Rosé debuted on the HOT 100, Lisa joined the tally. Lisa’s solo debut title track “Lalisa” blasted onto #84 on the chart.
Unbelievably, not only the title track made to the chart but Lisa’s solo B-side track “Money” peaked at #90. The two tracks made BLACKPINK Lisa who hit HOT 100 for the first time in 2021. Enjoy Lalisa’s “Money” Christmas version from Lili Film here:
TWICE
2021 was different for TWICE as they released their first English-language track, “The Feels.” The catchy and upbeat song made TWICE hit HOT 100 for the first time last year. “The Feels” quickly peaked at #83 on the HOT 100.
TWICE became the third girl group in the chart, following Wonder Girls and BLACKPINK. Following “The Feels,” TWICE released their album “Formula of Love: O+T=<3,” which is also a great success.
