BTS makes an interview appearance on SBS News 2021 evening program, “News 8”, with news anchor Kim Yong Tae, talking about their recent achievements and gratitude to their beloved ARMY.
BTS Interview in 2021 SBS News Appearance
SBS announced on July 24 that BTS would make appearance on their “News 8” program with news anchor Kim Yong Tae. While the program was supposed to air at 8 PM KST, the Tokyo Olympics event resulted in a delay for about an hour.
In 2021 SBS News appearance, BTS answered to some question an interview, regarding their most recent achievements, and—of course—their immeasurable love for ARMY.
BTS Talking about Phenomenal Win-Streak on the Billboard 100
BTS recently broke a world record with their consecutive win streaks on the Billboard 100. The sensational Kpop boy groups had managed to take the #1 throne on the Billboard 100 with their “Butter” hit song, keeping them for seven weeks straight before passing it to their own new song, “Permission to Dance”.
BTS Kim Namjoon (RM) said that BTS hadn’t thought that it would hold for seven consecutive weeks. Even when they joked about getting ‘baton touch’ after the seventh week, they felt glad about the achievement.
“It feels like a dream. The times are what they are, but when we released ‘Butter,’ we never imagined that it would hold the No. 1 spot for seven straight weeks. After it hit seven weeks, we joked that it would be nice to get a ‘baton touch,’ but it’s an honor that it became true.”BTS RM
For the same topic, BTS Jin added that the achievement was thanks to ARMY. Therefore, BTS promised that they would work harder to repay the love they had received from ARMY.
“I learned about it online but it’s all thanks to ARMY. I’m grateful to them for listening to our music. We’ll work harder to repay their love. I love you, ARMY.”BTS Jin
News anchor Kim Yong Tae also mentioned about how BTS Suga had predicted their success, and BTS Suga responded, “I’d like for us to be nominated for a Grammy again. I want to receive the award.”
BTS on “Permission to Dance” International Sign Language in 2021 SBS News Interview
BTS also talked about the international sign language in their interview appearance on 2021 SBS News.
As we all know, BTS incorporated the international sign language as a part of the choreography in their most recent “Permission to Dance” music video, and it was not without purpose.
“Through a dance that incorporates international sign language, we wanted to give positive energy, comfort, and hope to the entire world.”BTS J-Hope
Now, the international sign language in BTS “Permission to Dance” choreography has become one of many reasons why the song became a big hit.
BTS on “Blue and Grey”, Written and Produced by Kim Taehyung (V)
When discussing about the “Blue and Grey” song in SBS News 2021 interview, BTS V answered that the colors represented depression and anxiety.
After all, “Blue and Grey” was written and produced by BTS V for how the group had felt when the world changed after the COVID-19 attack. It was supposed to be an English track and released in V’s first mixtape. However, during In The Soop shooting, BTS members heard Blue & Grey and decided that the track would be great for BE album.
“No one, including us, could have predicted this situation. Our entire schedule was suddenly canceled, so we felt a sense of emptiness. All of a sudden, we were experiencing depression and anxiety, and I wanted to express those emotions as honestly as possible, so I wrote all of it down in a note. That depression and anxiety were expressed as the colors blue and grey.”BTS V

BTS about Their Appointment as Special Presidential Envoy for 75th UN General Assembly
On July 21, President Moon Jae In of South Korea appointed BTS as Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture. BTS is also to attend and deliver a speech at 75th UN General Assembly in New York later in September as a Special Presidential Envoy.
Regarding this appointment, BTS RM believed that although it was indeed a heavy responsibility, BTS would gladly take it. Therefore, BTS would do the best they could to fulfill their duties as a Special Presidential Envoy for 75th UN General Assembly.
“We’re part of the millennial generation and we can say that we grew up together with the youths of the current generation. We wanted to express what we’ve felt and learned through that process. We’ve also directly and indirectly experienced social impacts like economic and global crises while watching our parents. Although we’re lacking in many ways compared to the dangers facing 2021, we want to do what we can as special envoys and at the UN General Assembly. It’s a heavy responsibility, but we’re taking it on with joyful hearts. We will head out and do what we can and do our best to accomplish our duties before returning home.”BTS RM
BTS on Success and Failure: “We Don’t Know How to Repay ARMY”
The world considers BTS as one of the top leaders in the music industry. But of course, success comes with pressure and fear of failure that follow.
However, instead of focusing on the pressure itself, BTS Jimin feels that they have even harder times thinking about how to repay the love of their precious ARMY. After all, they are what they are today because of ARMY.
“Rather than us feeling like we need to accomplish something, we sometimes have a hard time because we don’t know how to repay our fans. We exist because of our fans and in the audience, but when we feel like we can’t repay that love enough, our hearts feel heavy.”BTS Jimin.

Q. What does your big bow mean?
Jimin: I was just so thankful. It felt unreal but I thought you have been supporting and loving us unconditionally without reward. And so even though we're in a difficult time right now, we are so happy.pic.twitter.com/wtz1WSEKcg
Therefore, one of their biggest goals right now is meeting ARMY, according to BTS Jungkook.
“I’m the type of person who wants to do a lot of things. I really like what I’m doing now, so other than my goals and dreams as a singer, there’s nothing in particular I want to accomplish on my own. I do want to meet our fans, ARMY. That’s my dream right now.”BTS Jungkook
As for fear of failure, BTS Suga believed that we can always prepare to fly again, just like the “Permission to Dance” song.
“Falling is scary, but landing isn’t. I think that the difference is that once you land, you can take off again. Even if it’s hopeless, as long as it’s a landing instead of a fall, we can prepare to fly again. I think that these are particularly appropriate words for our situation, so I could relate to them in the song [‘Permission to Dance’].”BTS Suga
What do you think, ARMY? Do you believe that BTS has expressed their gratitude enough?
